  1. Ha, when I first started reading that I thought you were going the route of the Billy Madison "I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul" bit.
  2. Wow, that thing looks like it really hauls some serious ass!
  3. This is actually funny because my ears are always a bit sore after a day at a park, and I've always wondered why. I've had many problems with ear infections as a kid, so mine are most likely more sensitive than your average person's, but still, that explains it! Interesting! For the record, I ALWAYS keep my head straight, and back/flush against the headrest if there is one. Rarely, if even at all, do I turn my head.
  4. Right, but if the ride is taller and faster, it will most likely be more forceful, too. And with higher forces comes a greater need for support... Even if the trains are going to be lighter? I don't know if they will be or not, but what if?
  5. I see, well good luck. You most likely will have no problem riding everything, it's just going to take longer than you want (or at least seem so because of all the screaming kids, lol) and you will probably get increasingly annoyed as the day goes on. If you can tolerate those, then you're golden.
  6. ^ Should be a good series, nonetheless. I'm not so sure about the Flyers with all their injuries...it also doesn't help that Savard will be returning, and Rask has the potential to greatly outperform Boucher. Anyway, here is a good write-up about the Crosby vs. Ovechkin debate after the Caps' collapse, and Ovechkin looking so one-dimensional. I did not write this, it was posted on another forum by a Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
  7. Assuming SOB is completely torn down, I'm not so sure another brand new wooden coaster in the exact same spot would be that effective regarding the perception of the general public. Look at Terminator at SFMM. Robb has said in other threads that the GP thinks it's still Psyclone, just in a different form, and I'm sure that isn't the only instance of that happening about a new coaster in a park. We'll have to just wait it out and see what happens to SOB I guess.
  8. I made the mistake in going there during M&S week in previous years. The park is overrun with kids, stays like that practically all day long, and you can expect to have decent wait for all major rides. Granted, the park it not weekend in July or August crowded, but the crowds are not light by any means either. I'd suggest staying away during that time if possible. You're better off going on a Sunday in May or early to mid June...park's empty.
  9. Looking great! To me, that looks like a corkscrew/Zero-G hybrid, sort of like the inversions in Maverick's horseshoe roll element. I really like those "in-between" inversions, they're really cool!
  10. ^ I rode it in 07 and 08 and didn't think it was bad at all. I actually enjoyed it and rated it fairly high on my CF coaster count (8/10).
  11. The supports remind me of the "spaghetti bowl" supports on Flight of Fear and it's clones/outdoor versions. This might have some nice headchoppers!
  12. ^^ You mustn't of seen the goal cam angle. If you watch that shot, the net was CLEARLY off. They even widened the shot on FSN to show and prove that it WAS INDEED off it's moorings.
  13. I'd suggest purchasing Broken Steel. It's the only DLC worth it, in my opinion. Also, if you like F3, look out for Fallout: New Vegas coming out this fall/winter. Looks amazing!
  14. Could this possibly just be imploded? That would be a neat sight. Like the old Intamin freefall in Texas, only on a MUCH larger scale.
  15. Yeah, definitely. I know Mean Streak has a decent amount of wood replaced every offseason.
  16. ^ I remember reading somewhere when this was announced that the new track weighs about the same, so if that's the case, I doubt much new bracing, if any at all, will be added.
  17. ^ I think it's the fact that it's a unique coaster that isn't what the GP think of as a traditional roller coaster. That's my guess as to why it looks a bit weird.
  18. Um, no. The net was completely off it's moorings in Ottawa. In Pittsburgh, the net was just slightly lifted, but still on it's moorings. Not if Phoenix wins you won't.
  19. This coaster is looking great! I hope that one path does go right next to the launch, that would be really cool!
  20. Robb, I'm sorry you took my post the wrong way, but I only meant well by it, and wasn't attempting to ridicule you for whatever you price them at, call you "nuts," or anything of the sort. The point of it was to ENCOURAGE people to buy a Blu-Ray player by showing how great of a value it can be, and to NOT be intimidated and scared away by the prices. I want more people to buy Blu-Ray players and, in turn, hopefully give you tons of support regarding TPR film segments on Blu-Ray, because I REALLY like this idea and hope it becomes a reality. I wouldn't have pulled all the stops and used so many examples if I didn't think Blu-Ray players were a great thing. I have all the respect in the world for you and your business here (if I hadn't, I doubt I'd still be sticking around here after 4 years of being a member), and would NEVER try and tell you how to run it.
  21. Exactly. Case in point, Amazon is currently selling the Avatar DVD/Blu-Ray combo for $19.99. That's 50% off the original price. Robb, here is my answer your question you posted when quoting my post a page or two ago. Yes, most new releases are that expensive, but with a little patience and smart shopping, you'll NEVER have to pay that much. You don't have to wait long at all to see an occasional "hot" title pop up on that $10-$15 shelf, or find a good deal somewhere. They are out there all the time. In no way was I suggesting you charge $10 for a RAW Blu-Ray (if you did, you'd most likely be hemorrhaging money after only a short while), I was just pointing it out for anyone in doubt about Blu-Rays because of cost.
  22. Have you never seen a Blu-Ray on a 1080p TV 42" or larger, with the latest surround sound? It's an astronomical difference from regular DVD, in my opinion. And I'm not talking about these digitally remastered Blu-Rays of films that were released in the early 90s (Army of Darkness, 1992). There is only so much you can "digitally remaster." I'm referring to modern titles such as Transformers 1 and 2, 300, Iron Man, Dark Knight, Avatar, etc. Like someone said before, once you watch one of those on Blu-Ray, you'll never want to go back. It's not like it's insanely expensive either. A Playstation 3 for $299 is a great value, or if you want a standalone player, you can get a decent one for $130 or less. Also, if you're patient, stores like Best Buy and Wal-Mart ALWAYS have $10-$15 deals on Blu-Rays, which is cheaper than DVDs when first released. If anyone pays the full $30+ for a Blu-Ray, they're nuts.
  23. This photo was apparently taken in the fall, not recently. We placed a car on the track to install a new trim brake. Did I mention we have a new water ride this year? It's pretty sweet. Can you fill me in on exactly where that is on the ride? The angle the picture was taken from is throwing me off. It looks to be in the same spot where there are already trims. Is it a new trim brake for the old location or a new trim on a different spot in the ride? Thanks Tony. Looks like the same location the old trims are in...just probably a new brake, as they wear out after a while also, just like your car when it needs new brakes. They just needed something to test it with and reassure it works efficiently, I'm guessing.
  24. Neat! Does this mean it could be coming to Kennywood soon?
  25. My guess is they installed new brakes and are testing them out. Whether they are magnetic or not, I have no idea.
