  1. I'm all for it! I think watching coaster footage in HD on a giant TV with surround sound would be really cool! I would love the convenience of just being able to pop it into my PS3 and go from there!
  2. ^ Really? I could have swore that it was only for rollbacks and is NOT used, period, unless one occurs.
  3. I think it would be cool if they actually had retracting floors for the floorless coasters.
  4. Anyone know if you are able to use a gift card to purchase the Spring ticket? I would assume not since you can only buy it online, but I want to be certain. I have e-mailed them numerous times and they haven't answered.
  5. Nope they're Intamin's standard eddy-current anti-rollbacks. That's why Intamins have silent lift hills. Yep, and just something to add to that. They are used on Darien Lake's Ride of Steel, which opened in May of 1999, so they've been around for a while.
  6. I did a presentation in my public speaking class on roller coasters. I know you probably won't be able to cite this, as Wiki isn't a valid source of info in most teachers' eyes, but perhaps you can get some ideas from this link (note: scroll down to Fluid Pressure). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Launched_roller_coaster Here's another link: http://themeparks.about.com/od/rollercoasterarticles/a/KingdaHydraulic.htm Also, have you tried asking Intamin themselves? Maybe if you explain what you have to to, they'd be more than happy to give you some technical info on how it works. I'm not 100% sure they will, but it's worth trying, as they worst they can say is no.
  7. I really like Congo Falls at Kings Island. You get a really nice pop of airtime, too! I can't wait to try out STR at Cedar Point.
  8. ^^ Yes, you live near an awesome park. I love Cedar Point also, but I think SFMM's coaster collection is better than CP's. I would love to live that close to SFMM, but at the same time, I consider myself very fortunate to live so close to CP. My major requires me to have an internship in Summer 2011, so I'm looking into possible ones in SoCal...that would definitely be an experience! Now don't get me wrong, I am going to take the best internship available and not make my decision based on what the closest amusement park is, but living so close to SFMM would be pretty cool!
  9. I agree, Dominator kicks ass in the front, such an awesome ride. Great report! Can't wait to ride I305!
  10. ^ I'm wondering if they would possibly rub against your shoulders a bit much and maybe give you brush burns.
  11. Assuming Elissa is taking the entire front into account, and not only the stickers, I see where she is coming from. The zero car on the Intamin train flows nicely with the shape of the rest of the train. The zero car on the B&M train is just kinda *there,* and it looks big, bulky, and out of place for such an open air train.
  12. That's awesome! I am actually really relieved to hear that because I will be going in August, where it will be much hotter, and crowds will most likely be more than average.
  13. The Cedar Point Blog is no more. At first I thought it was an April Fools joke, but Screamscape has reported on it, and they have also said that Kings Island shut theirs down as well. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/index.cfm http://screamscape.com/html/industry_news.htm#CedarFair
  14. It probably won't affect them too much since they are more of a different style park, but they will probably lose a lot of the coaster enthusiasts this year. (even though that's not a huge loss). I have the choice between King's Dominion and Busch Gardens this summer, and I know where I'm going! Same with me. I still might go to Busch during my vacation at VA Beach (depending on whether I'll want to spend the money and drive or not), but I'm DEFINITELY NOT missing out on KD.
  15. I know here is PA it's been unusually warm. It was 80 degrees yesterday.
  16. ^^ At one point it says "Incinerator 305."
  17. ^ It's the second half of the video Robb posted.
  18. I am surprised that they actually used stairs on the lift hill instead of the little tram thing Millennium Force has. I'd hate to get stuck and have to walk down. I'd hope they tie you off. I was thinking the same thing.
  19. Oh man, I can't wait to ride it! I might just have to make a trip down earlier than August. Great video Robb! I guess Millennium is now "Old and Busted," and I305 is the "New Hotness!"
  20. ^^ I hope so too, and I also believe it will, considering Premier has a large amount of experience in launched and complicated coasters.
  21. ^ Maverick also had TONS more scenery and theming in the animations that never made it, so don't take those pictures and videos too seriously. ^^ Perhaps they plan on planting more during the landscaping phase of construction? Maybe not as many as indicated in the animations, but at least a few more. I know their reputation suggests otherwise, but still, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions.
  22. Wicked is also made by Zierer, Sky Rocket is made by Premier.
