  1. This is why I think it's hilarious when people lump Six Flags and Cedar Fair in together. Little things like this make a big difference, and I applaud Cedar Fair for doing it.
  2. Sunday's aren't that bad. Saturday's are the problem. Ride Nighthawk first and if the family wants to ride Ricochet do that early but aside from that you'll be fine.
  3. Unless they have a bunch of groups scheduled then I agree 100% I mean uh... unless the "weather" isn't too "inclement". Yeah, we'll go with that.
  4. Yes, Flying Turns can shut down for rain and even after the rain if the trough needs to dry out.
  5. You should absolutely make the trip. Fury is just that good and Afterburn is exceptional. Crowds during the week are extremely light but they get very busy on Saturdays. It's like the difference between Dorney and Great Adventure. No matter what, ride Nighthawk first unless you get Fastlane.
  6. Blue Streak. It opened in 1964 and shares a name with a similar coaster just a few hours away. The only differences between the two are that the other Blue Streak sucks and is in a park that also sucks, but like Cedar Point it has a hardcore fan-base that gets really mad when you say things like that so I do it for no reason just for fun even when it has nothing to do with the conversation.
  7. I think they're just testing it. I wouldn't be shocked if they open something else up but who knows?
  8. Oh good, let's start! GCI woodie in The Shoot the Rapids spot!! Although a RMC reboot of Mean Streak would be better... The more you bitch, the meaner the streak becomes. Join us on the dark side. Tonight is the Valravn preview and first rider auction. Barring any special surprises the only ride open tonight is Valravn. All money is going to charity. I'm so jealous of everyone that's there.
  9. I can't believe I forgot the Llama coaster.
  10. Oh, everything seems so clear now. I should have assumed Intamin had something to do with this.
  11. Is Valravn the first new coaster open in the U.S. this year? Wow, nobody saw that coming.
  12. ^ Agreed. Leap the Dips and Skyliner are both a lot of fun but aside from that Lakemont is horrible. DelGrossos is a very nice little park and is much busier than Lakemont (for a reason) though all they have in the coaster department is a spinning mouse.
  13. Yeah sorry I could have worded that better. I have to poke the bear just one more time though and I'm sorry but... Can you explain the reason for the inconsistent Cedar point rain policy? I won't even argue, I just want to know the reasoning that they used to come up with it and what makes them seemingly change it on a daily basis for each ride (besides Dragster). I just want to understand... lol Don't hate me forever
  14. Then perhaps you misunderstood my post and maybe I didn't word it the best. I praised the ride crew, my issue was that they cycled it 100 times empty on a busy operating day on a ride where they generally never dispatch a train until they're triple stacked because of the blocking setup so it slowed down operations on a really busy day. I was surprised they didn't do it after hours. Really the level of complaining in my post was minimal. I brought it up to build upon the point that this park really takes awhile to hit their stride which was already being discussed... not to bash the ride crews (though for awhile IROC was killing them last year like with the "no steak skipping when seat checking" rules) but as I'm not an insider I don't know what's dictated by IROC and what's not so as I said I stand corrected on that one.
  15. I stand corrected then. Anyway I don't entirely mind it, it was just funny that they had to do it on a busy operating day and it wasn't done earlier and like I said I don't blame the ride ops one bit.
  16. I'm not blaming the ops at all, the Millennium Force crew crushed it last year. I blame IROC.
  17. Millennium Force's third (yellow) train wasn't used until the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. We were there that day and thanks to their ridiculous new policies they had to cycle it empty ONE HUNDRED TIMES that day before they could load it which they were finally able to do at night.
  18. My initial thought was "okay where in Japan is this going to be?". I guess I was way off. Lol
  19. I want you to be right but they do that every year and it doesn't make a difference. Plus the weather is making wind and rain closures on opening day look like a foregone conclusion. Go in with reasonable expectations and you'll have a great day though.
  20. Rain does close some rides but the real issue is that it's opening weekend and they're all going to be down for mechanical reasons. I'd tell you what rides close for rain but even the park doesn't know. Dragster will close but aside from that I'm convinced they have a rain policy wheel at each ride that they spin whenever it rains to decide what the rules will be that day. 2 Years ago they were holding their hands out to see if they felt a single drop before they opened Maverick. Last year they opened it in heavy rain with 50 MPH winds, tides all the way up Wicked Twister and sand blowing onto the midways. I've even seen them close Snake River falls because of a light drizzle. A ride who's sole purpose is to create a tidal wave so massive that it drenches everyone in the general area of the splash zone.
  21. Sounds like a great trip. Don't be shocked if you end up liking Knoebels better though. These feelings are perfectly natural. Lol
  22. Opening day has been a $#itshow for awhile. Expect nothing and you might get something. If 3/4 of the coasters run, it is a miracle. This, and for added fun they're calling for 15 to 25 MPH winds (so much higher gusts) so Gatekeeper, Raptor, Sky Ride, Windseeker and Top Thrill Dragster may be up and down a lot. I'm not sure how conservative they'll be with Valravn and wind but it never really faces a headwind from the bay and it's opening day so I would think they might be lenient with it but it's Cedar Point so you never know... get some rides in on those rides on Friday
  23. Great pictures. I can't wait to ride this summer.
