  1. Yeah, Derby Racer runs at a ridiculous speed. That and the Log Flume are easily the 2 best rides in the park.
  2. Oh for f**k's sake. If you go to the website there's a HUGE orange bar across the top of EVERY SINGLE PAGE ON THE ENTIRE WEBSITE that says " Lightning Rod will not be open to the general public at this time due to extended ride commissioning. Learn More" and then when you click on "Learn More" while you're b**ching about how they're obligated to make a statement you'll see the statement that they made and it says... "Lightning Rod will not be open to the general public at this time due to extended ride commissioning. Lightning Rod is an innovative ride featuring new technology never before used on a wooden coaster. The ride manufacturer asked for additional time to commission the ride. Keep watching Dollywood.com for future updates." Oooh it's a conspiracy. They're "remaining quiet" except for on every single page of the website. What do you want them to do exactly? Mail you a puppy and hand-written letter that says "Dear entitled enthusiast. Please have mercy on us and try to forgive us for the fact that you assumed an innovative new coaster that's completely unique would absolutely, 100% be open on time and booked a trip for opening day. I completely understand how one ride being closed would be enough to make you cancel your trip to one of the best parks in America even though a year ago when this ride wasn't here you'd have absolutely loved all of our other offerings which we still have. Please send all bills for therapy and tissues to Dolly directly and we'll be sure to reimburse you. We're really sorry we tried to trick you by not making a statement (except for all over social media and on every singe page of the website). Next time we'll send you smoke signals and hire a sky writer.
  3. On Kumba I have managed to both smack a metal pole on the way up the lift and the drag my hand along the ground at full speed during the helix. Both times because I wasn't paying attention and was being an idiot, so I doubt that there's a specific safety envelope size. It's probably determined by some combination of the individual parks and manufacturers.
  4. ... and it jumped a shark in the process
  5. ^^^Shouldn't we ride it before we bitch about it? Oh wait... sorry. I forgot where I was for a second. Carry on...
  6. And for all of you haters, judging by the webcams Mean Streak is testing.
  7. Yeah Dragster should be a sh*t show today between rain closures and mechanical failures. Luckily the Sky Ride is finally open to brighten everyone's day. #priorities
  8. Raptor seems to be running consistently in the rain today. That's strange... it very rarely operates in the rain. Maybe they added it to the rain policy wheel this season instead of just never running it if anything that might be considered "weather" (a slight breeze, a cloud, rain...) is in the area.
  9. This was the situation yesterday, and it kept TTD from opening the entire day. Same with Windseeker and the Sky Ride. Other than that, all other coasters were up and running for the majority of the day excluding Mean Streak and the blue side of Gemini. There was also some unexplained downtime on Maverick, but they did their best to get it up and running ASAP every time, as opposed to TTD where we just didn't even see any test cars go in the afternoon at all. They don't run both sides of Gemeni on weekdays outside of the summer season. It's a shame but that's just how they do things. It always seems to run 2 on weekends and in the summer when they have more staffing. And yeah CK124 those wind speeds should be fine. I expect Sky Ride and Windseeker to be closed but maybe not all day. Other rides should run but it's pushing it a tiny but for Dragster and Raptor. Still though unless that's the forecast for the entire day even a brief closure isn't a big deal. They'll probably run at some point.
  10. Every ride will be a walk on. Maybe a 5 minute wait for Thunder Creek Mountain and Steel Force. Navigate however you want. Thunder Creek Mountain is open and amazing. The parking lot was mostly empty the whole day, honestly don't know how that could be. From what I heard, lines were ranging between 20-40 minutes for most of the day. And from what I hear they saw bigfoot in the Pennsylvania mountains yesterday
  11. I left that comment specifically to see what you'd do with it. Lol When are we hanging again? Any SFGAdv days planned soon? I miss you guyssssss Wildwood! I need that flume in my life immediately!
  12. I left that comment specifically to see what you'd do with it. Lol
  13. At the park now! Here's a few pictures of Mako from about 5 minutes ago. The entrance area is starting to take shape. I can't wait to see how this area turns out... Around the bend. We should be back early next year. I can't wait to ride it! And some theming work...
  14. El Toro. And furthermore Skyrush sucks.
  15. Challenge Golf can't possibly be long for this world. I have no inside sources but they gave up maintaining it a few years ago, I'm pretty sure one course has been closed for years. If I were to bet on it I would think this might be it's last season, especially with the removal of the Go Karts. This all screams of a Carolina Harbor style water park expansion.
  16. It was testing last weekend. The trains were sent to PTC for rehab during the offseason and now they're back on the track. Sorry haters... put away the pitchforks.
  17. now try the front seat at night.... about 10x better than the back!
  18. Those lucky riders... they were spared the "B&M rattle". We'll be there tomorrow tempting fate I guess. If we die just know that we died doing what we love. ... we're brave
  19. I'm really bummed out that Raptor is no longer an early entry ride. Riding it in the morning is always a bad idea once the park opens but before that it was always a walk on - one train wait for the front row and it was almost always open at 9:00.
  20. Yeah but they're calling for sustained winds at those speeds with much higher gusts over 30 knots on the lake with a small craft advisory. Honestly I'd think at minimum Windseeker, Sky Ride, Raptor, Top Thrill Dragster and Gatekeeper will close. Don't be shocked if Millennium, Magnum and others go down too plus it may rain all day so basically if you can avoid Saturday then avoid it. Plus we don't know Valravn's wind limits yet.
