Photo TR: Walibi World + Amsterdam 2 & 3 September

Recommended Posts

This is my first TR on Themeparkreview. Don't expect too much of it, but I can imagine some of you would like to see some updated pictures of Walibi World and Amsterdam.

Normally we would have also added Duinrell and Drievliet + Rotterdam, but thanks to heavy storms, our tent got destroyed so we had to return home. Such a bummer.

If anyone wants my tickets to Drievliet: 19 euro for 2. Major bargain!

The pics are uploaded on Photobucket. I hope this is okay?

My pics are mainly registrations of the rides, no arty-farty shots!

The main reason we drove almost 3 hours for this park. GOLIATH

Remainder of Six Flags Holland?

Wasn't very crowdy at the park because of the forecasted rain and heavy storm.

Although the picture suck, I have to admit I like the entrance. Too bad the big building right after it is SO ugly and not cosy it all.

The great view on the giant wheel right after the ugly building makes up for it though.

Carrots, the ride?

Wait, what? A penguin-ice-cave

Splash battle. Too bad the weather was already wet enough!

Although I didn't take any pics, I have to admit I liked the kiddie area of the park. They perfectly combine some up to date 'things' with some nostalgic rides.

And now it's time for the coasters, cause this park was to become the coaster capital of Europe.

F*CK, what a disappointment!

La Via Volta: out of order

"Working on the future". Might want to actually tear it down then?

Flying Dutchman Goldmine: not really my kind of coasters, but I guess it was okay. But can someone please give this thing a new paint job?

Not a coaster, but pretty tight though

El Condor: Vekoma SLC. Nothing special, but definitely not as good as Vampire in Walibi Belgium.

Xpress: I believe this is the clone from Disneyland Paris' Rock 'n Rollercoaster? Enjoyable first part with a good launch, but like many people have said before, it's way better indoor with some nice themeing.

Useless pic, but I wanted to point out how bad Robin Hood is. Definitely the worst woodie I've ever done. The speed and elements are still okay, but the whole ride is bumping and shaking so hard. This was NOT a pleasure to ride, at all!

Hands down the BEST ride of the day! GOLIATH. I think we rode it six or seven times and the airtime was great every ride, every place. I love it, although it's not that high, but the 3 airtime bumps in the end and the short turn are amazing!

Some more Walibi World shots:

(less intimidating than the Magic Mountain sign)

Even in September, they were annoying! But is it so hard to empty this thing every now and then?

Me and my girlfriend weren't impressed by Walibi World at all! ONLY Goliath is worth doing more than once and overall there was a pretty boring atmosphere in the park. Only the Mexican area was a nice place to just sit and relax. Luckily we scored some 15 euro tickets, otherwise we would have felt ripped off without a doubt.

After a night at the Gaasper camping near Amsterdam, we went to visit the city

We liked the city, but it's not really on top of our list or anything.

Just a few shots:

(me)

The Anne Frank House. F*ck, I was so pissed after seeing this, cause they completely f*cked up the outside of this building. Way to ruin such an historical house! We didn't go inside because of the longgg line, and the fear of being disappointed even more.

Our plan was to visit Duinrell, Drievliet and Rotterdam, but due to heavy storms our tent got destroyed sadly enough.

Luckily we're heading to Parc Asterix and Prague next week, to make up for this.

Great Trip report, thanks

Pictures were pretty good aswell, Goliath does look like a pretty sweet ride and I just wish somewhere over here in the UK will build an Intamin Hyper, or any Hyper actually, hopefully SW6 is the rumoured Mega - Lite.

Really enjoyed reading, thanks again

You should have gone inside the Anne Frank house. We did it back in May. The line moves fairly quickly and it's totally worth the wait because they do not overcrowd the inside of the house. You have lots of room to take your time and read all the display signs in the house. A very powerful experience if you actually take the time to slow down and read everything.

Is it intact? or a lot of rebuilt things?

Cause seriously, my girlfriend and I were almost disgusted by the way it looked from the outside.

It's quite bare on the inside because the Nazis took all the furniture. Otto Frank wanted to keep it this way to demonstrate that.

Also, keep in mind that this wasn't a house per say when they were hiding there. It was an office building/warehouse.

Wow I didn't know Anne Frank lived in a 1960's shuttered up Mies Van Der Rohe/Corbusian style house!

It wasn't supposed to look like a house at all. Nobody was supposed to know that people were living in there. Not sure if it was modified after the war or not.

This was not the Franks' real house. This was where they actually hid out. Complete with fake bookcase leading to the secret living area.

Anyone think it's creepy that he took a picture of strangers's asses? Unless there like friends or something

It actually is a lil creepy, but right when we saw those 2 girls passing by, we started laughing immediately. I know the pic doesn't show it well, but it looked like they directly came from a pure nineties dance party! The girl on the left her pants were WAY too tight, and their hair was in some kind of fluo yellow/pink.

I just couldn't resist pushing the button on my camera .

And I didn't show their faces to 'respect their privacy'

I really hope to get to this park someday, for some reason it just looks really awesome to me. Could just be that awesome intamin though.

Xpress is the same as Rock n roller coaster, but I read somewhere that it is a slightly bigger version to compensate for the loss of weight from the sound system on rock n roll.

Thanks for posting this TR, nice to see this park. Don't really see to many TR's of it.

I actually was pretty excited about it too, but got a lil disappointed because of the lack of decent (not good!) coasters. Goliath was amazing though!
