Red Benny Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I'm going to DLR in a couple weeks and my girlfriend wants to videotape the whole time. I realize you can tape inside most of the less intense attractions as long as you don't use a light, but I was wondering what attractions they don't let you take a videocamera in. And if you can't take a camera onboard, can you leave it with someone? ..or do you have to leave it in a locker or your hotel room? The videos are just going to be for personal use, but I was curious what you do with your video camera say if you want to go on Star Tours or Indiana Jones.
coaster1 Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I've taken my camera on everything, well in my camera bag at least, never had any issues, except the time one tried to escape on Screamin' during the airtime hills.
CoasterFanatic Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 You can pretty much take your camera on anything at Disneyland. I did on my last visit and nobody so much as even looked at me. --- Interesting Story --- One time, while at WDW, I took my camera on Pirates of the Carribean. Wanting to get a couple of shots, I turned the night vision on. Armed with my infrared light, I started to get some shots before the drop, when the a Cast Member came over the speakers and said "Please! Put your light away". After about a second of thought, I realized that they use infrared cameras to monitor the boats during the ride. It must have looked like I was carrying a spotlight on the black and white monitors.
Red Benny Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 That's great! I'm glad it won't be a hassle. I would've thought that having a video camera on screamin' or TOT would've been a bit much. Glad I was wrong!
ScottBrown Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 When I was there they had added a no cameras or videotaping part into the speech the TOT person gives before you go
CoasterFanatic Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 ^ ToT at WDW is one of the only times I have seen a Cast Member tell a guest to "Put their camera away". // Once rode R&R Coaster with a drink in my hand.
SharkTums Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 ^Another good RnRC story... I was there for new years eve one time and they had handed out big hats, noisemakers, all kinds of stuff. I also had a shopping bag and my purse with me, but I had heard that they are really lax for whatever reason on that ride. (doesn't quite make sense to me!) Anyways, they let me on the ride with EVERYTHING, no warning or anything. This is fine for me, but I wonder about other people that still do'nt even know the ride goes upside down! Elissa "loves being able to take my stuff on the ride with me!" Alvey
CoasterCrazy Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 When I went to DLR last December, they let me wear my sun glasses/Mickey ears on every ride and take a POV of every ride except TOT. I'm one of the few people that can hold onto stuff while I'm riding a ride. I just wish more parks would let you bring stuff on the rides.
nannerdw Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 For some reason, when I was at Cedar Point, lots of people were carrying their purses, cameras, etc. onto Magnum XL 200, but the rules were much more strict for every other ride. I think Disney will allow you to carry practically anything onto their rides, at least it was that way when I was there. I was sitting in the back row of Space Mountain, and the lady in front of my was holding a big backpack in her lap.
coasters 4 me Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 when i went on the rock'n'roller coaster in WDW, i just wore my backpack like normal, while i was sitting on the ride. I did that with most rides. And by the way, i am going to florida for 3weeks and doing parks, and i was wondering, do you think you will be allowed to take POV's on Shiekra? Or maybe not because of the intense nature of the ride? also, at IOA, Sea world, MGM and Magic Kingdom?
BarryH Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 BGT has never allowed cameras on their coasters, so I doubt you will be able to get one on SheiKra. Other camera policies: IOA/USF: No cameras or videotaping on any rides. You can videotape shows and rides from the ground. Sea World: No videotaping or photography on the rides. Everyplace else is fair game. WDW: No videotaping or photography in Honey I Shrunk the Audience, TOT elevator, on the coaster in RnRC, and other parts of RnRC (depends on the Cast Member). Also, Alien Encounter had no videotaping or photography. Not sure if Stitch is the same. WDW is the most liberal of all videotaping. If they don't want you videotaping, there will be an annoucement made several times before each ride or show.
Coaster Junkie Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 No video taping on Stitch, the CMs working it will shine their flashlight into the camera and yell. If that doesn't work they put their hand over the lens and keep yelling. If that doesn't work they lift the restraint and escort you out. Yes that did happen. No, it did not happen to me.
