FeelTheFORCE Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Hi I live in Pittsburgh and am taking a vacation out to California to go to SFMM. I was just wondering whats the best day of the week to go there where it will be less crowded? Were staying in Santa Monica and are going to just drive over on a good day. We had no set date to go there and were just going to play it by ear and ask around. And what time should i arrive there in the morning so I dont have to wait in that long of a line to get in? We already bought our tickets online so thats taken care of.
ebl Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Any time midweek is best. I can't sum it up any better. Hope that helps. Just a tip, you can get tickets online here for $40 ($20 off the regular price). Hope you enjoy yourselves when you get here. Eric
FeelTheFORCE Posted June 18, 2006 Author Posted June 18, 2006 How early before the park opens should we get there?
SoCalDude Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I thought I would jump in this thread to ask my own questions. I have not been to the SFMM since 1993(ish) (when a riot broke out after a TLC concert) so I want to get the most bang for my buck on my visit. We (my wife and I) plan on going on either a Fri, Sat or Sun in the middle of July, so we expect it to be VERY busy. I want to take advantage of the "Flash Pass" - I know there is two options $15 or $20 (weekend price) for 4 tickets. OR the VIP Thrill Pass for $79. With the free food (a $20 value correct?) it seems like a good deal.... 80-20=60, for $60 I could get 12 flash pass tickets and no free food. So it seems like a good deal. BUT I understand only about 10 rides offer the Flash Pass option? What rides are they? I really want to go on the new stuff (lol, new as in new since 1993). And we plan on being there for the bulk of the day. Is $80 per person a good value? Do you really need this? I recall the lines being like 2 or 3 hours long per ride when I was a kid..... Also FTF - for jumping in on your topic I will tell you that Coke is having a promotion with them. Any can of Coke (drink the coke first lol) will get you a free admission when you buy one admission. That I think is the best deal out there. I know there are special cans with the promtion on it, but the ad I hear on the radio says "any can of Coke".
therooboy Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I have visited SFMM a few times.Defintely do X at the very start of the morning and get there about 15-30 mins before the parking opens (which was 30 - 60 minutes before the park).X's queue was around 2hrs all day long but if you do X first then go clockwise you will stay ahead of most of the pack and experience little or no lines for an hour or two (while people are still waiting to ride X).Not sure now how busy Tatsu is though. When i visit again I am still going on X first then i will assess Tatsus queue.X has the one of 3 ridiculously long queue lines i have experienced (the other 2 - TTD & MF at Cedar Point). You are also better off taking the mid part of the day slow or even leave the park and return around 5 as many quest begin to leave around dinnertime. The last hour the back of the park has been empty on my visits. Hope this helps
CoasterFanatic Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Just an observation, but your profile says that you are 16. That means that you have been driving less than a year. You also noted that "you" would be driving from Santa Monica to SFMM. Trust me on this one ... LA is no Pittsburgh (which I drive every day). You may want to look to a more experienced driver.
SharkTums Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Wednesday is a big camp visit day, I would avoid it. Go to X first. If you bring a coke can you can get buy one ticket get one free.
FeelTheFORCE Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 someone can close this...I got back from my trip a week ago. i went on wednesday june 28 and rode all the coasters except psyclone, gold rusher, and the kid coasters. I did what you guys said and ran to X first and was on the third ride of the day. I got pretty lucky because deja vu was open and had a short line when i rode it and also, some lady gave us her flash passes for free because she was leaving so I bypassed tatsu's 2 hr. long line line twice.
Nosferatu Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 How many rides do you get flashpass on with the normal flash pass? Do they vary from day to day? And is there possible to buy a two day pass or something?
SharkTums Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Flashpass costs $15 ($20 on Saturday's and Holiday's) It gets you on 4 Rides. They have the right to change what it's good on, but normally it's good on: Tatsu Riddler Revolution Viper Scream Colossus Roaring Rapids Tidal Wave Log Jammer It is NEVER good on X. You can purchase as many as you'd like. They say that they sell out, but I've yet to see that. (money talks!) Hope this helps.
