thefitness Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 This might sound dumb but is the Dania Beach Hurricane anywhere near Boca Raton? if it is how far away? and where could i find directions?
Shockwave Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 http://www.boomersparks.com/park/dania/directions.html The park is really easy to find, just off the I-95.
BeemerBoy Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 You should be able to get that POV. Just ask first, they've always been pretty cool about it. Enjoy it. It's the best wood south of Dollywood.
thefitness Posted June 3, 2006 Author Posted June 3, 2006 thanks everyone for your help im excited!! NO way someone already has a POV of that ride!?!?! haha
thefitness Posted June 5, 2006 Author Posted June 5, 2006 wow! me and my friend went to boomers yesterday to ride Dania beach hurricane and honestly it was the best wooden roller coaster we have been on.(considering we have only been on Gwazi.bgt and psclone(spelling?)and colossus. sfmm.I'm on my phone now but I will post pics and povs when I get home.
BarryH Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 The ride ops on the Hurricane have never had a problem with me doing a POV.
robbalvey Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 ^^ That's great to hear you had a good time. DBH is actually in my top ten wood coasters out of over 150! It really is THAT good! --Robb
BeemerBoy Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 ^ Amen to that! While we're on the subject, does anyone know what the deal is with the company that made it (Coaster Works, Inc.)? I see where the only other coaster they built was relocated from Pigeon Forge and is currently SBNO, but I've never heard anything else from these guys since. I've been singing the praises of the DBH for years, and it's ashame that most people don't make it below Orlando to experience it. Maybe R&E's newest DVD will shed some light on it and give it the attention it deserves. Scott "Not afraid to be the board's official DBH fanboy" B.
w. josh Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 I'm planning to hit DBH for the first time in a couple of weeks, as I've got a business trip to Ft. Lauderdale June 19-20. Looks awesome, especially since Gwazi's my only steady woodie fix here on the other coast. Quick question - the website says they're open until midnight on weekdays - can anyone say if they actually run the coaster that late? I probably won't be able to get there until 8-9 PM on Tuesday, and I'd like to get in a few rides...
BeemerBoy Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Yeah, it'll be running up until midnight. It's been a while since I've been there, but I'm sure since school is out, there'll be some good package deals to get in, play unlimited video games, and get unlimited rides. Either that or just get the $10 band for unlimited rides, and you're golden! Enjoy.
thefitness Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 hey everyone I have two videos and a few pics that I wanna post(im on my phone now but I get home today)i also need to edit some of the videos.BUT what I wanted to ask was should I post them here? or in the video forum?
CoasterPete Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 I just got back from a 5 night trip in Fort Lauderdale and again visited Boomers! just to ride the Hurricane. This truely is a great coaster and it was just a good as I remembered it from the year before. Well worth the $10 unlimited band. Like Robb, it's in my top ten, or top five even. As a park, Boomers has also cleaned up very nicely adding a few new kiddy rides. Great trip and glad to hear others continue to discover it! Pete
BeemerBoy Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 ^Very nice. So glad to hear that my baby is still running great! It's time we begin a serious push to make this a top ten in Mitch's poll. First we conquer Florida....well, okay, that's done. Then the east coast.....then the world. Muahahahaha. People, the next time you're in Orlando, remember to take some time for a side trip a few hours south for an "out-of-the-way" credit you won't regret. Let's keep the good reviews coming. Scott "DBH's campaign manager" B.
Swimace Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 I really didn't find DBH that impressive. Sure, it was a lot of fun and it was smooth, but it really didn't stand out to me. I haven't been on a lot of wooden roller coasters, but my #1 is Lightning Racer. DBH may be really good for a coaster at a park like Boomers, but it didn't seem like one of the best wood coasters out there.
thefitness Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 yay! I'm in ft lauderdale now and me and my dad are going to ride it on saturday! do you think if its not crowded the ride ops will just let you stay on the coaster and keep riding it?
BeemerBoy Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 What time of day will you be there? If it's during the day, I wouldn't worry about a crowd. It's the middle of July in South Florida, and that means it's Africa hot....which means it's the off-season for tourism, and that leads to minimal crowds, if any. If you go at night, it'll get somewhat busier, and your chances of marathoning become slim. But if it's in the daytime, I see no problem with riding as much as your heart desires.
thefitness Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 ya I've been before but I felt uncomfortable asking the ops...they didn't look to enthuised to be there do you think they will mind? ill be there during the day
BeemerBoy Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 ^ Well, first of all, you're right about the ops not being very enthused most times. Of course, if you had to sit there all day with only a handful of people riding, you'd probably not be in the best mood either, I guess. I'd just ask nicely. Even though they haven't always been the most outgoing ops I've encountered, they've also never had a problem with me taking pov's or marathoning when everything's empty. And oh yeah, while you're there, tell my baby I'll be back in October for a visit.....and I can't wait.
obeygiant Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Jumboshrmp lives about 15 minutes from DBH. So do I! I'm going to ride the DBH this weekend with my dad. It'll be my first time, so I am looking forward to it. I just hope the crowds aren't big so I can re-ride as amny times as I want.
thefitness Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 ya they never said anything to me when I took a pov (yes ill tell your baby you'll be there in october) haha what day are you gonna be there obeygiant?
obeygiant Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I'll most likely be there Saturday. But, if my dad is working..Sunday. But, I don't think he is.
