pkdcoaster
What a great day! left house at 5:15am got to Hersheypark at 10:30 (extra 1hr-15min due to sucky traffic in DC and Baltimore) Park was VERY light with a few schools there. I have not been since 2002 and this is my first park out of the state of Viginia since 2003! met my buddy and we were off to Storm Runner but it was closed. It was weird entering the park and NOTHING was running except the rides in midway america (I assume they do this to get people back there in the morning now) So we were walking back to the Wood and I noticed that the water was not on Roller Soaker and it was running so I said what the hell. (boy am I stupid) Well we walked right on and little did I know that they still filled up the cars with water, so we hit that first block brake (Slam, Skloosh) and I get Soaked! After that I dumped my load and continued on (luckily no rash). Next Wildcat (2 trains/walk-on all day/8 rides on the day) Still my favorite Woodie, man this thing just keeps getting better! (except the bottom of the 1st drop could use a little TLC) Airtime is even more powerful and it just never lets up. Thanks to the bunny hill in the hairpin turn my pelvis is now mulch Wild Mouse (5-10 car wait all day/1 ride) disapointing that this mouse is now tamed, what a shame it used to be the best Lightning racer (1 train each side/4 cycle wait/2 rides) I don't get how wildcat gets faster and this gets slower (so it feels to me) It felt like we were pulling an anchor around the track on our 1st ride 2nd car, rode later in the day in the back and it was better but still not as fun as 2002. still fun though. Storm Runner opened up 11:30 (2 trains/20 min wait in morning and afternoon and walkon from 4-6/ 10 rides) WOW what a ride!! I was not expecting it to be this good. the ops were great and I was very surprised how efficient the dual station was. Easily deserves a space up there with the best in the country. The 1st hill and the rollover element was just too cool and there is NO shortage of airtime on this monster. Another Intamin Winner and the restraints were actually not bad at all (although they do not seem necessary on KK) Great Bear- same ol same ol (2 trains/15min wait at its longest/ 1 ride) I still think the best part of this coaster is the helix but there is just way too much straight/flat track SooperDooperLooper (2 trains/walkon/1 ride) A classic mine train with a loop the beginning is just funny to me, going down this gradual 30 degree drop, slowly building up speed then BOOM, your Ass is Very Intimate with the seat (good G's) Comet (2 trains/1-2 train wait/1 ride) such potential....... I really wanted to ride the Claw but it was down all day The Weather was perfect and The ops were great and this is easily one of the best Parks in the country. so in 7.5 hours I got 24 coaster rides plus monorail and skyride, took 169 pictures and shot 30 min of video. not bad drive home was much better (no traffic). Sorry if it is confusing....my battery is a little low here are some of the pics from today 1st Storm Runner Enjoy, JEFF Get Ready....... mmm..fresh Intamin Wheels
