DancingDays
Anyone watch 24 on Fox? Definitely has been my favorite show as of late, I couldn't find any other topics on it, and the final episodes of Season 5 are Monday, so I figured I'd open up a topic... So yeah, love the show, S1-3 are easily my favorites (haven't seen S4), but the show is still the best on television, IMO. Discuss...
shepp
Oh, surely not "the best." Better than The Sopranos, Deadwood, nip/tuck, The Shield, The Wire? I find 24 morally dubious, utterly improbable, and totally addictive: I've watched them all. But Jesus, how many moles has CTU had by now? Two hundred? A thousand? A skillion? Doesn't give one a lot of faith in their intellligence-gathering abilities...
Meteornotes
24 is not about realistic storytelling. 24 is about Jack Bauer yelling at people, shooting them, and snapping random folks necks. In other words, quality TV entertainment! Mary and I love this show, as it's an hour to yell at the TV and laugh. Monday night is a godly night of TV with the finale of 24 and the series ending episode of Alias, one of our other favorite shows. dt
24
It's addicting! The show is entertaining and you just have to keep watching to see what happens next.
DancingDays
Yes, the show is extremely addicting, and is easily one of the most daring shows on network television. There are so many moments and events and issues that other shows don't even dare touch... The fact that it's "morally dubious" is part of the show, really. The fact that Jack Bauer is the same makes his character relatable but not all-good, therefore making him more human. I don't like the show as much now because it's becoming a bit more mainstream, however the original episodes from the first three seasons are absolutely classics. Slacking
24 has also given us some kickass female characters including Nina Meyers, Sherry Palmer, Dina Araz, Chloe O'Brien, and Martha Logan. Honorable mentions go out to Lynn Kresge and Audrey Raines (Season 5 not Season 4)
Jew
^Who cares about all of them. Kim Bauer > them. Mainly because Elisha Cuthbert is hot.
krouvi
In Israel we are 6 episodes behind but I really like it. I didnt see the others seasons but this one is great. I have this prefect tv night with Lost and then 24. Realy great.
Slacking
^Who cares about all of them. Kim Bauer > them. Mainly because Elisha Cuthbert is hot. Hot? Sure An even bigger annoyance to the storyline? Definitely. Lets go back to the double whammy of season 2 having to watch her not only encounter that damn mountain lion but then to have to deal with that weirdo in his bunker. Girl's got bad luck. krouvi
Among all 5 seasons - which one is the best ? I never seen the other 4 seasons so maybe I will rent it on dvd and make a 24 hours of 24 .
DancingDays
I haven't seen S4, but I would say you can't go wrong with Seasons 1, 2, and 3...all are miles ahead of Season 5. I would just start with 1 and go from there. S1 has the best beginning and end. S2 has the best middle episodes. S3 has the best final 7-8 episode run. dougr
I like how they've slipped parallels to the current administration into the current season-I saw the first couple of episodes, didn't like where it was going-but now I'm back for the last 3 hours. Slacking
Among all 5 seasons - which one is the best ? Honestly, I'm not a Season 3 fan. Not a fan of Palmer's storyline and the Mexico stuff bored me. It did introduce was to Chloe though, so thats a good thing. The season did pick up towards the end, but I think its my least favorite. I think season 2 is my favorite with season 1 being very, very close behind.
shepp
^Who cares about all of them. Kim Bauer > them. Mainly because Elisha Cuthbert is hot. Hot? Sure An even bigger annoyance to the storyline? Definitely. Annoying...definitely. Maybe it's because I'm queer, but Li'l Kim seemed like nothing more than the archetypal SoCal bimbo, and when she went to work at CTU, I thought, "The Bushes have nothing on the Bauers when it comes to nepotism." When she turned up (briefly, thankfully) this season, I thought ,"Nooooo..." At least you can believe Chloe actually knows how to boot a computer. I guess I'm in the minority, but I actually liked this season a lot. But I'm not sure how they can sustain the premise for 3 more seasons. What's next, a band of New Zealand ecoterrorists unleashing a plague of rabid squirrels in Griffith Park?
DerekRx
^Now that would be awesome! Just having watched the finale for this season, I'm really impressed with the way things ended and the setup for the next season. Hooray, only.... 8 more months until its on again!?! Slacking
Wow, they really did a great job at setting up the next season. My guess that the time gap between Seasons 5 and 6 will be shorter than in past seasons. Which is a shame, because Gardener doesn't seem to be the most interesting President this series has seen. Also, I loved how the Logan storyline was wrapped up. The smirk on Martha's face was fantastic.
DerekRx
^Yeah, I can't imagine the gap will be that big, maybe only a few days, maybe a few months, depending how long it takes to transport him to China and then lock him up for random torture sessions. They gotta give the poor guy a chance to eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom; though if he has an allergy to MSG, it would really suck for him going to China!
