calcajun Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 The Big Easy 12_2005 Or what i like to call F**ked Ferris
waterviper Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Ok I dont get what is going on here! Maybe the picture is too small to see what you want to show us?
calcajun Posted May 9, 2006 Author Posted May 9, 2006 Yes, Photobucket made it too small. I will make it larger. Untill then look close. You don't see every gondala damaged? I fixed it. Now you should see it quite well.
chavslayer Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Cricky that thing is wrecked! Dont think i would enjoy a ride on that much, I would be really scared lol.
calcajun Posted May 9, 2006 Author Posted May 9, 2006 Cricky that thing is wrecked! Yes, you can't see from this photo due to the angle but many of the buckets are hanging sideways.
Nrthwnd Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Sad, sad to see there. Is the park a total write-off, or are they going to really try and get it back up and running....eventually?
calcajun Posted May 9, 2006 Author Posted May 9, 2006 really try and get it back up and running....eventually? The last official word about a month ago was " it could go either way " No one has or is giving the definitive answer at this time. I came back to add your quote... " Talk is cheap, action is priceless " There has been no action yet.
Joe Cool Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Dang that is a shame. Can you show some more picture?
Cameraman Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 As calcajun said, there has been no action yet. Passed by the park yesterday and it really didn't look any different from when I last passed by January. In addition to that, just about all the vegetation is dead. Almost nothing is green in the swamps around New Orleans East. No animals, no movement, just nothing. The saltwater destroyed everything. People look at all the damages the storm did to man-made things, but it really took a toll on nature. I've heard it will take over two years for the rain to wash the salt away to a point where vegetation can grow normally again.
Blue0ctane Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 I still don't see anything besides one side of the Ferris Wheel. :-/
calcajun Posted May 10, 2006 Author Posted May 10, 2006 I still don't see anything besides one side of the Ferris Wheel. Thats because thats what the photo depicts. The original one ended up tiny and you could not see any detail so i UL'ed a bigger version to what you see now. Dang that is a shame. Can you show some more picture? Yes, it i a shame, specially to those of us that want a park here. The longer it sits the more it deteriorates. Not that it can get much worse than it already is cause the whole park is just devestated. It does not look like that park will be comming back. More photos? Possibly. If so, they won't surface for another few months. There are already loads of photos all over that were taken inside the park after the flood. They were here on this site along with some other sites. If you have not seen them do a search. I am sure they must still be here at TPR.
Joe Cool Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 ^No I meant like pictures of the park after all the water dryed up.
calcajun Posted May 11, 2006 Author Posted May 11, 2006 It is possible some may surface in the future, but I would not hold my breath waiting cause it could be many many months. Then again they may never. SHRUG
