Movieguy
I've been to CP many times before, but back then, my family had little choice but to visit in August, due to schedule conflicts, etc. Now that I can drive by myself (long story, but it took me a while to get my license.) I'm considering returning to this park for the first time since 2002, on a solo trip, probably some time after May. There's just a few things I'd like to know. Mind you, this isn't definite, its just an idea at this point. When is the best time in the summer to visit this park? I have a feeling crowds will be inevitable for a place like this. I just wonder if they're any lighter at certain times. Also, where's an ideal place for a solo tripper like me to stay? My family stayed a lot at the Sandcastle suites, but I think that's a bit out of my price range. Are any of the rooms at the breakers any less expensive, or is it all about the same price for all the in-park lodging?
CoasterFanatic
Weekdays in May are the best. The earlier the better. Other than that, the earlier in the season you go, the better the crowds will be.
Milkchan
The best time to go is the first day it opens to about the early-June < This is before most people get out of school. Maybe Memorial Day last time I went which was in 2004 the longest line was the dragster and that was about 1hr and 15min. The park maybe crowded because of the new ride. If you go in August it may be just as crowded as July I don't know about the state of ohio ,but in MICHIGAN! people go back to school after labor day. The really best time is going on Tuesday-Thursday an time the park is open.
haux
Sundays in June are when the park is amazingly empty. I have no idea why, but I've been able to walk on nearly everything but Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster on Sundays in June. In two Sundays in a row, I rode Raptor 97 times. Take that as you want.
Rob562
Any thoughts on a weekends trip in September? My friends and I are looking into out first visit, and we're tentatively planning on the first Hallo-Weekend, Sept 22-23. We could potentially move that a week or two earlier if the Halloween stuff will make the crowds too big. -Rob
Carnage
^ The two weekends after labour day, and before halloweekends are great. I always go then. Weather is still nice and the park is empty. It's better to go before halloweekends start, as the park starts to fill up then.
ECZenith
Go tothe ERT event in 2007! For one, it sucks to go to a theme park alone, at least I imagine it would. And second, ERT on some of the greatest coasters ever built. And by 07 they should have that new coaster...
Movieguy
^Well...I don't really mind going anywhere alone, but that's definitely something I'll consider for the future as well.

CoasterFanatic
^ See ... I am not the only one who has experienced this blessed anomaly. The park is DEAD the first couple of weeks (Monday thru Thursday). http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1756&highlight=cedar+point
DerekRx
The only thing you can run into in early May is really crappy cold rainy weather and school trips. Usually the schools leave by 6pm though and the place is dead. The weather, not so much. I've had a couple "fun" experiences in cold crappy monsoon rains at Cedar Point in May over the years.
