BrownStreak Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Anyone who read what was originally here- ignore it- a link was mislabled on the site I was on! But I do have a Kennywood question: What are the best places to see and things to do to really get an appreciation that it is a National Historic Landmark? And do they have a museum like Cedar Point has (had?).
Hercules Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Maybe it is just an error on the website, but I'm pretty sure that the new ride is an S&S Screamin' Swing... one of the many that are being installed for this season. Since the post was changed, this post is useless.

ltp74 Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 There is no museum but the park is sorta like a museum with rides like Noah's Ark, Turtle, Auto Race, Whip, Jack Rabbit, Racer, Thunderbolt and the Merry Go Round. That is what's so great about Kennywood kids are having fun on the same rides their grandparents, great grandparents and even some great great granparents did.
DenDen Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 If you go to the entrance of Lost Kennywood, they have pictures just under the Phantom's lift. That's about all you'll find as far as a museum. It is odd that a park with such history doesn't have one. As far as the park itself, a few of the rides are classics, but the dark rides have all been redone in the past few years, so you're not going to get that historic feel in Noah's Ark, or the Old Mill. (Now called Garfield's Adventure) The only true Classics left at the park are the Kangaroo, Turtle, Merry Go Round, Racer, Jack Rabbit, and Thunderbolt. (You can also count the train, but the scenery has changed also...) Some of the Kiddieland rides are classics as well, and definately worth the walk-thru. Hoping to make a trip up there this year.
Dailey Enterprizes Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 ^ Ditto! Haha, don't try to sneak a Kennywood topic past me. Um one thing to point out is that the Swing Around that is usually on top of the Garden Stage... It won't be there this season, infact the whole area was kinda transformed into a High Dive act, so who knows if the Swing Around will ever return. Also, our Bayern Kurve is going to be absent for awhile, sorry guys =( .
exit english Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 They got rid of my swing around? OH NO -JOsh
CoasterFanatic Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 ^ not just the Swing Around, but the entire Garden Stage is going bye-bye! http://www.kennywood.com/attractions/whatsnew.php This is not the first time that the Huss flat has been removed. It was taken out (Along with the Little Dipper) in the mid 80s to make way for the Raging Rapids

Also--don't miss the Auto Race, the last Traver Auto Ride in existence. -Janna
