ParkTrips Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 So yes, I will be in So Cal on Wednesday April 26 and Thursday April 27th on the dates of the Tatsu sleep over - no I didn't miss the memo I just can't work out the other date so I figured "ah, screw it" and I will still go as originally planned. I'll be back to the Mountain in the fall pobably and am undecided if I will go this trip. I have so many possibilities to explore the scene of underwhelming SoCal Parks. I mean I could do any of these: - dislike Cedar Fair even more than I already do by going to Knotts - ride Bad Mummy at Universal - ride Bad Tower and visit the mini-Disney and/or ride a trimmed up California Screamin' - go to the Mountain and try to get the Deja Vu credit and ride the ones I liked (like Riddler's, Scream, Ninja, Psyclone.. etc etc) - go to San Diego and hit Sea World (free-for-me credit!) or even better off, the idea I really love, go to Tijuanna!!! Why? Well first off, three credits in one dump!! Secondly, I would love to have credits that close to Elissa when she doesn't have them! :: Plus, Tijuanna is probably the nastiest city I have even been to, I loved that place in my sick and twisted ways! Oh and finally, I can finally take that guy up on his offer of "50 cent beer and my sister" now that I'm both single and not with my Dad - ho it up at the various FFC's in SoCal - stoopid Adventure City will be closed but the Miner Mike looks pathetic enough for me to count it! Of course I could do the whole Pacific Park thing, especially cool since exactly a week before I will be riding a roller coaster at an Atlantic seaside park So, what should I do to make it so crappy it totally kicks the Tatsu sleep-over's ass? Suggestions, thoughts and comments please!
coaster1 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Depends what you wanna pay .. or do. We are gonna be out there Apr 24-27 (Was gonna be Media Day) and our plan is as follows: Apr 24: Fly In/Vegas Apr 25: Vegas Apr 26: DLR Apr 27: USH/Fly Home
SharkTums Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 What credits and parks have you already been to? That will help me!
ParkTrips Posted April 12, 2006 Author Posted April 12, 2006 Sorry, everything at the Mountain excluding the kiddies and the Vu plus the Giant Dipper at Belmont - been to both Universal and Sea World before they got credits so I've been thee/done that for both and neither is terribly high on my list (especially since both of their coasters look like a shadow of their Florida cousins) but other than that anything's good!
SharkTums Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I say do the ultimate 'non-amusement park' trip and credit whore all the crap. Scandia Castle Pharoahs Santa Monica If you can do that all in one day, hit up Universal/Vu (if it's open) the other. Save TJ for when you can go in a group, safety in numbers you know!
robbalvey Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I highly doubt Vu will be open. If it is, I'll squash my left testicle in a vice. --Robb
oriolat Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Remember what happened in WBMWM with Stunt Fall. First the park opened with that ride closed for the whole day and then, surprisingly, they run it! And it's a GIB!!! Maybe SFMM could do the same with Vu, don't you think?
SharkTums Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 SFMM's Deja Vu has now been closed for more than 2 months! Although with Robb's promise I'm kind of hoping they do get it open!
ParkTrips Posted April 12, 2006 Author Posted April 12, 2006 I'm just going by word of mouth that there was some sort of parts recall and with the one at my Six flags repoening this weekend I had moderate hopes of the one opening at Magic Mountain. However I dont want to get scorched for parking either (soo spoiled by free parking pretty much everywhere!), can I park at the Alvey residence or is that too far? I think I'll do Knotts + mini-parks on Wednesday and then the Mountain and maybe Studios on Thursday before heading back to LAX - do passholders for the Orlando parks get any sort of price break?? (kinda like I think Silver and Gold Busch passes do...) Oh, and here's to hoping to see Deja Vu run and Robb's nuts squished!! edit: quoting for later use I highly doubt Vu will be open. If it is, I'll squash my left testicle in a vice. --Robb
SharkTums Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 ^Call me at some point and we'll work it all out. I get free parking and fastlanes with my pass (so does Robb), I'm sure I can duck out of work enough time to help you out. Plus with your new plan you can stay at our place on Wednesday and we can setup "ParkTrips Cam"...ahh the fun will never end! EDIT As for USH Discounts, your pass doesn't get you crap, but I think me being a passholder gets you something, or we can always ask two of our Universal employees here on the board to hook you up!
USRoadTripper Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Kevin and I are planning on Adventure City and Santa Monica Pier when we are out that way, so maybe those would be of interest to you? I'm still not ruling out a stop at Scandia also, if we fly into John Wayne. -Julie
ParkTrips Posted April 12, 2006 Author Posted April 12, 2006 Adventure City (an obvious choice because of its location and selection of not-so-horrible coasters) is closed both days I am out there. OMG sounds like I should be afraid of sleeping, LOL!! - Joe
dougr Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Did I read correctly that you haven't been to Belmont Park? You could also credit whore at Legoland-they're on the GoLosAngeles pass now. Does the Wasaga Train at WAP qualify as a credit?
ParkTrips Posted April 13, 2006 Author Posted April 13, 2006 No I HAVE been to Belmont and HAVE ridden the Dipper. Fun, but not great IMO and too out-of-the-way. I think I have it figured out what I will do Wednesday Arrive at LAX at 11AM Drive to Scandia, out of there by 1:00 PM (2 credits max) Drive to Castle, out of the by 1:45 PM (2 credits max) Arrive at Knott's at 2:30, stay until closing (6 credits max) Leave Kontt's at 8 (or even a little earlier) and head up to Valenica Thursday Mountain in the morning (2 credits max) Santa Monica Pier on the way back to LAX or maybe Universal, depends on how quick I'm done at MM (1 credit max) At LAX and out of town at 10 PM wooo up to 13 credits!!!
