When i was at Thorpe in april last year, and Alton alos has single rider lines for various rides, however i have heard quite a few cases of the Single Rider Lines not being used on busy days, so it's kind of a lottery from what I've heard..

Alton Towers now uses a single rider que on: Rita, Oblivion, Nemesis,Air and Spinball Whizzer, Spinball has the worst que, it may not be longest looking ques but it has the longest waiting time!!!Quiet days you'll que for Spinball for about 1 hour!!!

Yeah Alton used these extensively last season but they sucked because people didn't understand them.

I did an experiment with Rita at AT and it took me less time to get on than my buddie Rob (not 'that' Rob) in the single rider Q! I think that the opps just forget about the single riders on this ride.

On the opposite side while my friends were on subbmision (lame flat I don't like) I manage to get in 4 rides on Oblivion in about 15 mins in the single rider Q when the main Q was one hour:-)

So in answer to you question dubaidave yeah they do. Just don't bother with the Rita one.

just noticed this,

Yeah martinb why is this, it's really wierd there seems to be loeads of cars always being dispatched and their are loads of bloack brakes and stuff so lots of cars on the move at once. The only thing I can think of is that its like one of the only coasters that EVERYONE goes on your mum, gran, uncle, little brother. You can go on a quite day in April/September when Nemesis/Air/Oblivion is walk on and Spinball is at least 30 mins!

I have no idea why, but the Black Hole was exactly the same, on quiet days it had about a 45 minute que, but Spinball is probably the only coaster at AT that I don't go on on every visit! I can also remember whn I got in the park asoon as it opened and the que was already ful, this at about 9:31am but when I went straight to Nemesis I got on it twice and Air twice before 10am, but the funny thing is everyone runs to the Forbidden Valley!! It just confuses me!!

Also never que for the front seat on Colossus, I waited an extra 1hr45mins and there was only about 3meters of que!!!!!

Don't bother even LOOKING at X:/No Way Out, it's just depressing and very BAD!!

Really the Main Parks in England Alton, Thorpe and Chessington have SRQ and that basically it no other parks I’m aware of have srq.

The Best working SRQ are Inferno and Nemesis which move pretty well most of the time . Only bad thing Nemesis srq is open when busy but close when quite, Inferno is open most of the time. Chessington only have SRQ on Tomb Blaster and that’s it (not sure if there add anymore but would be nice if vampire had it ), srq used to be on Dragon’s Fury too but was removed due to the exit being clog up. (Wish that was added back thou so many empty seats now days)

p.s Oblivion doesn’t have srq anymore as they remove it (no idea why thou)

Chessington won't be running any single rider queue's now.

Alton towers Is the worst for SRQ.

When I was queing up for Rita, I thought 'Yes!!, A single rider line' (I used these extensively ot ROTM back In October) So I got In line and waited for about 15 minutes before anyone from the SRQ got on, So then It started to rain (Rita has an outside queue, with no roof) And the ride broke down 2 times because of It, So after about 1 and a half hours!! of waiting In the SRQ I FINALLY get on (Great coaster by the way) and by the time I got of, We had run out of time and couldnt ride Oblivion.

So In my experience American parks are MUCH better and organized than English parks.

I used the Single Rider queues at Alton Towers in June. With the exception of Nemises and Oblivion, I ended up waiting more then an hour. It was especially fusterating on Air, because I saw empty seats on every train that was dispatched, yet they rarly loaded people from the SRQ.

WOW

Thanks everyone for all your replies.

I think I wll just take a look at both ques on the day. It sounds like its the ride ops that dont know how to run them properly.

Universal Japan runs SRQ`s but the public dont know what they are for so they are always a walk on.

Thanks again

Its not that UK park's can't run them its just that Rita and Spinball are low through-put rides, and becuase so many people use the system (by that I mean groups), it means the queue is longer then it needs to be.
