I thought I had seen it all until I heard this on the news. I surely hope the kid gets gang raped in prison over and over again.

Teen accused of beating grandmother

Tuesday, January 24, 2006

The teen knocked down the front door after being locked out.

A normally quiet east Manatee County neighborhood was anything but Monday night when a 16-year-old allegedly attacked his 60-year-old grandmother.

"When I saw what was actually going one, it was a total surprise," said Johnny Richardson, who deals with troubled teenagers at Gulf Coast Marine Institute.

The teen's great grandmother, who was home but was not attacked, called Richardson, who is the teen's case worker, when the trouble first began at the home on Hammock Drive in Bradenton.

"It could have been a lot worse than what it was," said Richardson. "I mean she was down on the ground and he was beating her you know, and so it could have been as serious as death."

The drama unfolded when the teen, who suffers from bipolar disorder, asked his grandmother, Beverly Cass, for money to buy beer. When she refused, detectives say the teen put a razor blade to her throat and told her that he would kill the whole family if he didn't take her to the bank to get money.

Cass then agreed to take him to a nearby Hess Gas Station and left as soon as he got out of the car. When he returned home to find all of the doors locked, he beat the front door down and then began beating Cass on the back with a two-by-four. He then allegedly used a three-foot piece of a PVC pipe to hit Cass on her head, back, and legs numerous times.

Richardson then arrived at the scene and was able to restrain the teen until law enforcement arrived. He is facing charges of domestic aggravated assault, two counts of domestic aggravated battery, attempted robbery, and kidnapping. The state attorney's office will review the case and decide whether or not to charge the teen as an adult.

Cass is recovering at home.

"We just happen to have a rash of these incidences," said Manatee County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Dave Bristow. "I mean this is the third one, you know, and that's three too many obviously."

Bristow is referring to two other recent headline-grabbing incidents involving Manatee County teens. Richard Henderson Jr. admitted to killing his family in Myakka City on Thanksgiving. Just a few days later, Clifford Davis of Bradenton was charged with killing his mother and grandfather.

Fortunately this case was not as severe, and sheriff's detectives credit Richardson with possibly saving Cass's life.

Wow, how lame! Seeing how its Florida, he doesn't really have a good selection of beers to choose from either! He should be tried as an adult, then when he's someone's b*tch in the slammer, maybe they'll be nice and sneak him some in.
