rabid disney Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I don't want to wreck anything till you guys see this movie. Wow, I was blown away by the effects, emotion, and story telling I'm still stunned by the past 3 hours and very proud to call Peter Jackson a fellow New Zealander right now. All I can say is stop reading this and get to your local movies now. This movie gets 10 sheep out of 10 sheep. Reply when you guys have seen this masterpiece.
Jew Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 It's a solid movie. The beginning and endings are a little slow, but there is just enough humor to keep things going. Once they get to Skull Island...OMFG! It's like Indiana Jones meets JP. Freaking awesome. My major peeve is that the CGI in some spots looks so ridiculously fake it kills it. Especially New York City in the end and a couple of wide shots on the trip to Skull Island. However, the CGI on Skull Island...freaking sweet.
Erik Johnson Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 We all know that Peter Jackson's best movie was Meet the Feebles. Its funny that I can now walk into a Wal-mart and see Peter Jackson's name plastered everywhere with his new King Kong production DVD set and me thinking....this guy used to film muppet sex. Anyways I always have been a fan of the original version so I hope to enjoy the new one. In true form to the original movie I hope he put himself into the film in a cameo as one of the pilots or gunners that in the end sequence of the film.
disneygurlz2s Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 This is the first movie in FOREVER that we are all excited to see. Think this is going to be our "New Years Eve" activity. Can't wait. Shari
WillMontu Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Having grown up in Pukerua Bay (I went to Kindy and started school there), I'm sure I'll make some attempt to see this.
65skylark Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Just got done seeing it. Overall a good movie and I would have probably enjoyed it more if I hadn't read 3 different revues that said it was the best movie sense Titanic and better then Jacksons LOTR movies. I certainly would not go that far but a good movie none the less. There were diffinately some bad CGI moments and I felt it was a little too long but the action scenes were great. And IMO Naomi Watts is a total hottie so that never hurts either.
DragonKhan Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 *reading title* Uhhhh... How can you spoil THIS movie?!?! Doesn't everyone know already how it ends?!
Rugged One Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 There was one notable difference between this and the original that I thought could be seen as a spoiler and fans will definitely be surprised and excited by it. I'm a big King Kong fan and was overall pretty pleased with it. I mean, it's directed by one of the biggest Kong fans out there and he definitley does the material justice.
Kenny Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I enjoyed it. I got to see an advanced screening on tuesday. I bet Peter Jackson gets his 100mil he fronted for the extra hour of film. I will probably buy this on DVD when it comes out. It was well done and I am glad he directed it.
rabid disney Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 *reading title* Uhhhh... How can you spoil THIS movie?!?! Doesn't everyone know already how it ends?! Im sorry if I upset you I just feel on the net you use Spolier and Non Spolier when approiate.
Jonathan Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 My brief little blip (no spoilers): Peter Jackson seems to be establishing himself as the top dog for making huge epic films. He seems to have a real hatred of making cuts, and I felt like that was a big problem here. At more than 3 hours running time, I thought some of the action sequences were way too long, and could have been cut substancially. "Kong" certainly does a good job though of giving action fans all they could ever want, while still developing the characters very well and creating many subtleties beneath the surface. Some of the CGI was not that great, but the CGI for King Kong himself was absolutely breathtaking. Suddenly it occured to me during the film that I was connecting with this giant ape by reading his facial expressions. Plus, it has Naomi Watts, so that's like automatically a couple of points right there. 3/4
