As each year goes by lately it seems that, and I can speak on my personal opinion, that as parks start to make announcements im not suprised. I remember a time when I was shocked and thrilled when it came to that part of the season but lately its like everyone and their mom can call what a park is gonna be getting the up and comming year. Does anyone else feel the same way?

It seems like an enthusiast is always able to discover a layout, or track pieces show up in parking lots... before teaser emails or an announcement even hits the public.

I'm pretty sure the ones in charge of marketing new rides are just targeting the public with the shocking new ride. Then of course the coaster fans who dig for the info, will know about it well in advance.

People are just getting better at spilling the beans IMO.

Yeah, nowadays, if you want to surprise enthusiasts, you have to keep your mouthshut and announce it before ground is even broken. That is pretty difficult though. Sometimes I really miss only being informed of an announcement date and being completely excited for that day to come to find out what is going to be built.

I agree though that some parks are just too predictable nowadays. Especially Paramount. One or two parks will get an attraction, and you can guarantee the next couple years the other parks are going to get the same thing. At the same time though, they are catering to enthusiasts. And though they may be predictable, they are predictable for a reason...it was successful somewhere else.

Most of the time we know what it is before ground is even broken. I mean, it has gotten to the point where people are spying on a manufacturing plant in Ohio and photographing the shipping tags!

This is why I think more parks will approach the new rides like Holiday World, where they hint at it and actually build anticipation towards the announcement as opposed to a leak and everyone knows and the anouncement day is merely a formality at that point.

Heh, yeah, I'm one of the two people that does that.

Right, keep in mind that the GP have never been on a Flying coaster, Floorless, GIB, or any giant huss Flat. To them if its completly new and unique to the park, its completly new and unique to the target audience (GP)
