crispy Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 I have always thought Feliz should have started over Alfonzo, he's one of the players I have always enjoyed watching I think the bottom two starters, may, or may not pan out, if they don't expect Sabian to make a move, as he almost always does The Bulpen looks stronger than last year, with them bringing back Worrell, and Benitez being back from his injury last year I agree, if thewy can get 120 games from Alou and much more so Bonds then yeah, they should win the West After Bonds retires, that free's up ALOT of $$ to sign a pretty good free agent, but I would hope they would try to clean out the oldies, and get some nice young talent, eh we will see this year looks promising
WalrusMan Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Feliz is the true "Caribean hack slapper." He'll get about 10 - 15 walks a year and about 100 strike outs a year. Hitting .260 with a .280 OBP doesn't cut it. He only will hit 20 - 25 home runs each year.
BelizeIt Posted December 27, 2005 Author Posted December 27, 2005 The RedSox off-season has been a disaster! First, they lose a great GM, Theo Epstein! Second, they let a proven winner bolt from the team, Johnny Damon! If that wasn't bad enough, they let Damon go the the RedSox Nemesis--The Yankees!!! Damon will definitely help to improve the Yankee line up, to the point that the Yankees will be without doubt the lead contenders for next year's World Series trophy. The RedSox management seems convinced to reach the World Series on the Cheap! Good Luck to them! Whichever players play for the RedSox, the management will still sell-out EVERY home game. RedSox fans are loyal, and they love this team! I hope the "Owners" realize that you can't let great players leave, because you are unwilling to pay their salaries! Damon will prove to be a loss that cannot be replaced!
Gregory DG Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 WOOHOO the Giants got Matt Morris, Heh, you won't be woohoo-ing when you watch him give up 5 runs in the first inning like he's done the past couple of years for the Cards! Most of 2004 he was awful and wild and NOT reliable. The first 1/2 of 2005 he was solid as a rock, but reverted to 2004 levels the second 1/2. He was once a great pitcher, but ever since Darryl Kile died, he's not been the same. :?
BelizeIt Posted December 29, 2005 Author Posted December 29, 2005 The Boston RedSox should do whatever it takes to retain Miguel Tejada from the Orioles. If the RedSox have to lose Manny Ramirez, then Tejada would be an excellent replacement for him. Even though Manny is a better overall player, Tejada would be a great upgrade at shortstop. Since the RedSox have had an awful off season to this point, (In terms of players they have lost) at least this would be considered a Hugh upgrade at shortstop. It also helps that Tejada wants to play at Fenway. So bring on the Trade!!! If Clement helps to seal the deal than so be it!!!
mcjaco Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 ^Manny is a better player that Tejada???? The waters of Boston must by tainted. Have you watched Manny play defense? I'd take Tejada over Manny anyday. Which it seems the Cubs ae trying to do. I wouldn't mind but, not for Prior. I think he's got a career in front of him if he can stay healthy.
momo1tx Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 The Orioles have said that a Tejada trade is unlikely, but I think they're talking about with the Cubs. Either way, I hope the O's keep him, he's pretty good.
BelizeIt Posted December 31, 2005 Author Posted December 31, 2005 I can understand why the Orioles would be hesitant to trade a great Player like Tejada, to someone in their own division. But, it's not like they aren't getting a quality player in return! Manny, with all of his personility quarks has certainly been a consistent with his MLB numbers! Whether it's home runs, hits, or whatever Manny is a great player! An any pitcher, who faces him, knowns that Manny probably has the advantage over them. That makes Manny a powerful force to be delt with! The Orioles would certainly benefit from his abilities. Lets face it, if you have a disgruntled player (Like Tejada) who all of a sudden at the start of the season developes some type of phantom injury, Hamstring Etc...(ALA Normar Garciaparra) There is NO point to keep him on the "Team" Manny, would be an excellent edition to the Orioles, I hope that the trade goes through, for both our sakes!!!
BelizeIt Posted January 1, 2006 Author Posted January 1, 2006 Wow! If the Current rumors show a four team deal where Manny ends up in a Mets uniform, and Tejada becomes a Boston Redsox! I can live with that!!! I imagine that Baltimore fans were expecting a greater outcome from such a trade, but they will be compensated! With pitching Etc... Tejada will be a great edition to the RedSox! Go Boston!
Astat Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Interesting offseason for the Indians so far... Gains: -Kept Ronnie Belliard for another season -Re-signed Scott Sauerbeck to a 2-year deal -Signed Paul Byrd for 2 years with an '08 option -Re-signed Bob Wickman for another year -Signed Lou Merloni, Einar Diaz, Steve Karsay, Danny Graves (minor league deals/spring training invites) -Signed Jason Johnson for a year with an option for '07 Losses: -Kevin Millwood now with Rangers -Scott Elarton now with Royals -Bob Howry now with Cubs So right now, I'm predicting the opening day roster will look something like this: Rotation: C.C. Sabathia Jake Westbrook Cliff Lee Jason Johnson Paul Byrd Bullpen: Rafael Betancourt David Riske Arthur Rhodes Scott Sauerbeck Jason Davis Brian Tallet Closer: Bob Wickman 1B- Ben Broussard 2B- Ronnie Belliard, Ramon Vazquez SS- Jhonny Peralta, Brandon Phillips 3B- Aaron Boone LF- Coco Crisp CF- Grady Sizemore RF- Franklin Gutierrez, Casey Blake C- Victor Martinez, Josh Bard DH- Travis Hafner There's still a few "if's" with the Tribe though, one is whether Matt Miller's arm has recovered enough to get him an opening day spot in the bullpen. If it has, put him in Tallet's place. Also, nobody has picked up Jose Hernandez yet, if they re-sign him he's a great utility player who I'd put on the roster instead of Vazquez. And of course there's always the chance of a Spring Training invite showing enough promise to make the roster, so you might see Einar Diaz as backup catcher instead of Bard, etc. In case you haven't realized it already, I'm way obsessed with baseball, lol.
