TConwell Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Pictures added ... Knotts Berry Farm – a practically empty park! I met up with WeeWeeSlap at about 10:30 (parking was apparently an issue for “Mr. Late” ... LOL), and we headed directly in. Since military got in for free and he had a season pass, we were in without delay. We headed to Ghostrider first and truly, this coaster is all it is cracked up to be. Of course, we went for a front seat ride and the 51 degree drop is everything you have heard about, not too mention the “tunnel effect” down the drop with the housing increases the appearance of speed and the drop has a nice bank to the left at the bottom, heading into a wonderful camelback with some serious airtime. Couple more hills and yanks and we were into the MCB, no trim at all. In dare say the drop following the MCB is truly a work of art, as well as the bunny hills through the structure and the final helix to the brakes. Yup, I do declare this is now my favorite wood. Next, we hit Silver Bullet and while the wait was a bit longer, it was more than worth it. Again, having a front seat ride we were treated to all the sights, including several times in the queue where WWS seemed oddly distracted and staring off into some jeans, errr, I mean into “space”. [lol] Silver bullet has some serious positive Gs throughout the ride and the overall confusion of the end (left turn cork into practically a 90 degree tight helix) is really awesome. The cobra roll on this coaster is really tight, and combined with the speed, wow. Following this there was no choice but to hit Xcelerator, and of course from the front seat – indeed a great place to ride this for the first time. Wow. The launch, air on the top hat, and the overall feeling of falling while descending down the top hat is really an intense experience. Couple of high speed heavily banked turns later we were on the magnets and that was that. Truly, the front seat is the place on this coaster … but I’ll talk about the back later. We headed to Montezooma’s Revenge (sorry, no pics) and this is pretty much like Greased Lightning at Astroworld. Launch into a loop that is about 4 Gs, up an incline, and then backwards through the station hitting an incline and back to the brakes. Very simple coaster, but honestly for some reason this one tore up my stomach more than anything else that day! [lol] So, here we are, all the big rides done … and about 1.25 hours till WWS had to bail for work … so, BACK to Ghostrider! This time we rode in the rear seat (gold train) and the airtime was just increased that much more. When we got off, we hopped back into the wheelchair entrance and got back onto the ride (empty queue, might as well save time). This time we got on the silver train, and man, what a rough ride in the back seat THAT was! Watching the cars in front of us, ouch, I am glad we were in the front on that earlier. These cars were all over the track!!! Now, neither one of us have small frames, and ya’ll we were tossed about like rag dolls! As a matter of fact, the drop after the MCB sent me a good foot off the seat … so much so the bar was mid thigh and the ONLY thing holding me in!! Good stuff for certain! We had about 30 minutes to kill so of course … back to Xcelerator for a rear seat ride. Man, talk about ejector air! WEEEEEEEE!!!! That 90 degree drop, man, I was totally out of my seat with hands in the air … fun stuff for sure! We headed for the exit, stopped off for some sodas and again, WWS was struck with this need to stare off into space … [lol] … too funny. We left from there; of course not before I got myself a Ghostrider ball cap … Heh, I had to have something for the day. Well, that is about it for me from Knotts Berry Farms. Cheers!
coastercraze2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Gee, I go to Knott's so much Im paractically through with it for a while now. I've gone what...12 times this year and was able to ride everything threee times at the most per day.
Blazen_AZN Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 wow, did you call silver bullet's inversions tight, that it has some serious positive G's and great speed? I take it you've never ridden a batman! Also, the loop on monte isn't "about 4Gs", more like about 6. anyway, it's great to see a TR about Knotts, havn't seen one of those in awhile, thanks for taking one for the team.
arrowfanman Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Also, the loop on monte isn't "about 4Gs", more like about 6. That can't be--that loop isn't that intense! I was at Knotts the day before, on the 21st, and had a day very similar to yours. I even rode Ghostrider twice, and found it much more enjoyable than my other ride (which was in the back seat of the silver car). Sounds like you had great fun! P.S. The back seat on Xcelerator is the way to go!
SonOfBeastSucks Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Great TR, I am glad to see someone had fun at KBF! Also, I loved the distribution of pictures.
Twister II Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Also, the loop on monte isn't "about 4Gs", more like about 6. Well sence Fugi-Q's Moonsault Scrabble was the most intense G-Force before it was closed (at 6.2G's), Im sure some one has got their facts mixed up
TConwell Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 Copying and pasting? Well duh ... especially since some may not be at other locales. wow, did you call silver bullet's inversions tight, that it has some serious positive G's and great speed?I take it you've never ridden a batman! Several times actually ... but what impressed me about this was not only the force, but the relative silence of this ride. I mean, you can barely hear the thing! But yeah, that cobra roll seems (and looks) much tighter since the last Batman I rode. Man, that silver train is a wreck! LOL!!! And I agree, back seat on Xcelerator ... too much fun.
