Photo TR: A few days in the L.A. Area! Santa Monica, KBF, and SFMM.

Ha! I just found the pair of old pix I took, from the top of The Tower, in Sept.1975! With old fashioned camera, lol!

Definitely shows that Skyride Station that you described. It's at the bottom of the left pic, and the restaurant

is clearly there, over the monorail station. With a train leaving the station!

And that dirt pile in the bottom of the right photo is where the Revolution was to go, for 1976.

Sorry it seems you weren't thrilled with your visit to SFMM. I have never been to this park yet but its my top bucket list park. What do you think the park needs to improve it?

Indeed it is crazily priced.  But I guess "everything is expensive in the SoCal area," right?   I did have fun!

With all the hoopla and stuff in the Disney parks, I love Knott's for (yes) it's GhostTown and general ambiance through-out the park. Much easier to deal with, than Disney, every time. And staying at the Knott's Hotel is an extra plus IMhO. Will always stay there in future trips.

Yeah, I fully intend to. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of spinning coasters, I'm starting to come around on them.

Amusingly, @Nrthwnd's post right above yours captures some of it.  The park desperately needs some transportation options, especially with how mountainous it is.  Otherwise, I'd say the park needs more family/thrill flats, and a true standout coaster or two.  Some might say that Twisted Colossus is that ride, but honestly it was in the bottom tier of RMCs for me (SV, Twisted Timbers, and Twisted Cyclone are better IMHO).  X2, while unique, was a torture machine.  My favorite rides in the park were a 45 year old Schwarzkopf that's heavily trimmed and Tatsu, but neither were rides that really blew me away.  The entire lineup is good (except Apocalypse), but there's really nothing special.  Perhaps if I wasn't so time limited, and didn't have a pretty wicked cold, I would've had more fun, but it is what it is.  Don't get me wrong, it was a good time, and I did have fun...there was just nothing that really stood out.
