SpectralN Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Hi I searched the forums and could not find a suitable review of SheiKra. Can someone please post one, I remember this ride was being hyped alot before release, since then it has been quite. Is this a fun ride? Is it worth traveling the country to ride it? Thanks so much!
robbalvey Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Here's 10 pages of Shakira comments: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17041 It's great. Not a "top ten" in my book, but a great ride still. While I wouldn't travel across the country just for Shakira alone, I would travel the country for BGT's collection of B&Ms. Some of the best in the world. --Robb "Download the Shakira video and see for yourself!" CoasterDude211 Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Hey...I went to Busch Gardens over the summer to ride Sheikra and I loved it. It was very hyped up and the first time I rode it I was kind of like "That's It? It's over" but it took me a couple more rides to realize how great it is. I was expecting it to be really scary and take my stomach on the drops and what not but when It hung me out there It did not seem like we were that high of the ground and the leaning wasn't too obvious up there. I was actually rather relaxed , in the front row, on my first time while hanging up there. So it never took my stomach and It didn't seem very intense, but after riding it 8 times in two days...I loved it. It was just an all around fun coaster. I loved the water splashdown in the end and just the whole experience was great. So I hope that this may help in your decision wheter or not you want to come ride it. -Robby
Homer Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 SheiKra is a great ride and a top 10 for me, but not THAT high. I wouldn't travel cross country for this, but SheiKra IS a great ride, especially in the back. The back gives out a LOT of airtime on the second drop! And BGT's collection of B&M's are probably some of the best rides I have ever rode. I just love SheiKra's air, Montu's Immelman and Batwing, and Kumba's helix with the G's that have that "your head a-splode" feeling.
ParkTrips Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 (edited) Here is my review, copied from another site verbatim: Half of the reason of driving 480 miles to Tampa was to conquer SheiKra, America's first B&M dive coaster (or Vekoma flying dutchman, depending on what merchandise you are looking at ). Getting to Tampa the night before, I drove around near the park and caught a glimpse of the ride, and I couldn't wait for morning to come so I could ride. Accompanied by Larrygator, we picked the first row on our first ride, and I expected it to be the place to be. Well, that first ride was a disapointment. The holding brake did little for me, and I still have trouble believing that the ride is 200' tall. Whatever, the ride could overcome that, correct? Well, not in this case. The immelman was kinda dull since it didn't seem too forcefull from the front and the drops were just "good". Probably a 7 at best from the front, but by now you see that I have given it an 8. This comes after three more rides, two in row #2 and a thrid in the back row. These rows both provided considerable airtime on the drops, especially the first drop in the middle row. Not the best out there but good for a coaster with OTSRs. There are some nice positive Gs in the immelman from the back rows, and a weird weightlessness from the right side of the train going through the Immelman. The water effect is really cool to me, though even in the far side of the back row, I barely got wet (more of a mist). Its fun to see the huge "rooster tails" (I think that's what they were called) and the kids getting soaked at the end of the pool. Overall, a nice ride with some neat and unique experiences, but not something to throw in my top 10. Also, I don't usually try to brag, but I took some damn good photos of the ride that can be found here: Edited April 18, 2017 by ParkTrips
jarmor Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 the big boy seat has given me the best drop on ANY coaster I have ever ridden!
robbalvey Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Joe's review is right on. Not an amazing ride, but a good, solid ride. A 7 or an 8 rating seems to be about right. I think in my rating scale I give it a "B" maybe inching closer to a B+ in the back row. This past trip was our first ride in the back row and I liked it MUCH better than the front rows. --Robb
ParkTrips Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 the big boy seat has given me the best drop on ANY coaster I have ever ridden! That's probably why my ride in the middle of the second row gave the best air, we sat in the big boy seats. That makes sense, I kinda wondered why the air was best in the middle of the train to me.
SpectralN Posted October 25, 2005 Author Posted October 25, 2005 Thanks for the information, sounds like a fun ride (thats what it's about right? looking forward to riding it.
Erik Johnson Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 While SheiKra is a really great coaster, it still ranks behind Kumba and Montu as my favorite coaster at BGT. For some reason the scariest part for me is the very top of the lift hill as it feels like its not going to quite make it to the top. Leanne and I also got our first back row ride on this last visit, we really enjoyed that.
DerekRx Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 The scariest part of SheiKra for me is the wasps at the top drop brake. Other than that I think the ride is great fun and thrilling. After Oblivion, its more of a complete ride and has nice pacing. I love looking at the watersplash almost as much as I love vertical loops, and I like how the back row gets a little damp from it. I still wish it ended with a little more power in the helix. I'm definitely a fan of SheiKra. BTW, when did they take off those rods in the Immelmann?
