Nrthwnd
Final Thoughts, Thanks, Ta dum dum! Thanks to: Cedar Point Resort for a great stay, and everything in between! ***That wonderful late night housecleaning lady Bert got for......"the rollback!"*** CoasterMania! Day. Great event, thanks to all at CP who organized it. Bert ~ ah Bert ~ awesome room buddy ~ fantastic memory! ~ thanks for sharing it all with me. I hope you got as much as you could out of the adventure, as I did for myself. I needed the rests, and I tended to be "a bit grumpy" through a bit of it but....Deal with It! I'm old! Get used to it! A really great trip for me pal, and I'm so glad you were along with me all the way. Liz & Dianne ~ you were awesome (ahem) "add-ons" to our CoasterMania! Day (I'm kidding!), and I think we both wish you had a) tix to CM! and b) stayed through the whole weekend with us! I am so out of it when it comes to "socializing" but it was a real pleasure to be with you both and Bert, doing the day as we did. And again THANK YOU for getting our on-ride photos, besides yours, too! Much appreciated. And Dianne? "We'll always have....The Monster." (round and around and round and around and round and...) The Weather - it was perfect - there was some fog our last day there. But it went away. And the rain fell on the morning we weren't in the park, HA! And the rain went away, too. Famous Dave's ~ No further comment necessary. The food, drinks, and our server were awesome! No Thanks to: Well, I'm not going to put anything here. Anything that did happen to either me or Bert or both of us... ...it happened. And that as they say, is that. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* And to finish it all up, here's three photos I picked from each day (and the Souvenirs folder too), plus an "extra", just because I'm glad Bert took it. Hope you all enjoyed reading through me and Bert's Adventures during CoasterMANIA! and Cedar Point Resort. The Cedar Point Peninsula was indeed, Pleasureable! Sally, trying to split us up, Bert! The twins. Pride or no pride, I liked this on MF. Your Madge. Yes Veronica, there is water beyond the sand, there. Maverick. Heaven. With bones and two sides. And one Margarita (of 2). Teaser shot. Me holding them up. ValRavn looked cool in the fog. Bert rode this. I watched. And Bert rode this. Many many times. Which is cute and wierd at the same time. Bert's doing. My perks. (o: Found my newest cap. Love this. Wish I'd bought more. Getting ready to finally leave, for the airport. Edited July 19, 2017 by Nrthwnd
Nrthwnd
Double post - my oops. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * Actually, here's the third on-ride pic of me and Bert, on Maverick, (thanks again Liz!) that I don't consider my "best happy look." But I did! I did! I did enjoy it! I even bought the t-shirt! And waited nearly two hours to ride it, damnit! Love it - best in the park, IMHO. Bad shot of myself - Bert looks great - I wanted a retake, but the deed was done. And here's the t-shirt!

Canobie Coaster
Fantastic report! You'd think there wouldn't be enough Cedar Point for this many updates, but each update was great.
Nrthwnd
Yeah, tell me. Wish I'd visited a few decades earlier, lol. But once, is really better than never at all. (Secretly now, I want Magic Mountain and Cedar Point to switch places, bringing CP closer to ME!) Reason #

bert425
.. so remember on TTD when I stupidly put my arms up for the picture (including my very sore left arm), and my arms whipped back and I saw stars? yesterday had to go to an emergency Dr visit due to extreme pain in my left arm/shoulder, and what felt like a "tear" on the inside of my upper arm with the warmth spreading down from shoulder to elbow. so today I went for an MRI. . . Dr. thinks it a deep Rotator Cuff Tear. . likely caused when my arm whipped back on TTD. still think it was worth it, if that's what started this mess. . . but getting old SUCKS. Nrthwnd
^ Ouch! Hope things improve for you, and that arm. Is it a matter of resting it, taking medication, or might there be (gulp) surgery involved?
bert425
^ Ouch! Hope things improve for you, and that arm. Is it a matter of resting it, taking medication, or might there be (gulp) surgery involved? on an anti-inflammatory/pain med as of last night. the MRI today (2 hours, just got back from it). .is to take a look, but Dr. thinks it's serious. When he was examining me yesterday, there was no pain at all as he was prodding. So I said, "that's good, right?" his response was: "no, that's bad. . it means whatever is going on is deep in the tissue" and it's kind of confirmed that it might be something bad, as quickly as the insurance approved the MRI (from appointment made yesterday afternoon, to this morning, approval given). so *if* it's a torn rotator cuff, and it's a severe one? my Dr. will send me to a specialist, and likely will require surgery to fix. but dunno yet what treatment plan is going to be. . have to hear from Dr. based on MRI results in the next few days. I head to Atlanta in 3 weeks for Dragon*con. . so if need surgery, it will either be very quickly decided, or held until I get back from con. bert425
for anyone who was wondering, MRI found something, and so Primary Care sent me to Specialist today. Orthopedic Doctor confirmed tear (along with some arthritis), but did NOT want to go to surgery 1st. (he actually said - "I would never recommend surgery for the tear of the type you have). so instead, got a couple of Cortisone shots into my shoulder blade -- *hurt like hell* even with the topical numbing, and the supposed anesthetic included in the shots. he says I should see less pain in 36-48 hours. oh, and his diagnosis is "Frozen Shoulder". . which can take 1-3 years to resolve itself. most typical in adults between 40-60 years old. yay, age. bert425
still in a lot of pain. the cortisone shots helped in that it's not Constant pain, but if I move *just* the wrong way?. . almost passing out shooting pain (happened just earlier today when the dog, excited to see me after my trip, jumped up into my arms). but yeah. . . not "better". .but tolerable. go back to the Orthopedic in November to decide next steps. thanks for checking in
Nrthwnd
(June 2/17) Liz suggested going to see the extreme sports show, (but that wasn’t high on our list, and tho we kept that as a “Something to do” backup plan, we never did get to see it). Maybe next time. Too late. p.s. Next year's CoasterMANIA! will be Friday, June 01/18. Photo from Tony @ Cedar Point.
Philrad71
^ Oh wow...I knew that they were taking the BMX show out, but didn't realize that they were demolishing the old Oceana building too. I can understand it though as that building was horribly dated. Should be interesting to see what they might put there as we have all heard rumors of Wicked Twister leaving. Personally I hope that it doesn't because I love the ride and it's location on the beach, but it wouldn't surprise me if they want to open that entire area up for something better in the coming years. TBpony414
^OMG!! That poor BMX stadium I know they said they might find a different place for it but I have no idea where they could put in a similar area. RIP stunt show!
ytterbiumanalyst
That stadium was an eyesore. A lot of what makes Cedar Point so great is its location on the beach, so using that can really help them. Wicked Twister is really great, best of its kind. I get that the capacity is not really up to CP's standards, but I would miss it if it leaves.
bert425
Heh. . funny to see this come back up on the forums just went for a check up on my shoulder, and am now on super strong painkillers, so arm is still in bad shape, but at least getting a little better, and Ortho still does not want to do any surgery or PT. . . so just pain mgmt for now. at least the cortisone shot helped a lot (instead of a pain level 10 constant, I'm down to pain level 5-6, that comes and goes). I'll take it. Miss CP tho, and really wanna go back!
Nrthwnd
^ Good to hear you're getting better with your arm, Bert. Hope the pain's down to a 1, if not gone completely, before the holidays.
Philrad71
^^ What did you do, Bert? My God, you haven't had the greatest of years either, have you? I have been having chronic pain (tingling/shooting pain/stiffness) in the back of my neck, shoulders and down into my arms and fingers. Chiropractor helped a little, but I think a lot of it is from sitting at a computer at a desk, attending meetings and talking on the phone for the majority of my job. Uggghh, I need a new job.
