The Angry Darren Mullins Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 December 2, 2015: I went to Guangzhou today to visit Shiba Luohan Mountain Forest Park. This park is in the southern part of Guangzhou. There are no direct buses to the park but some buses stop near the park. I found this park recently (before RCDB) and decided to visit today. The park is located on a mountain and has an area with rides. The park opened in May of 2014 and the condition of the rides reflect this. There two gravity powered coasters here and a powered coaster. There is also a huge Ferris wheel that gives great views of the whole area below the park. There is a frisbee ride, a disko coaster and traditional rides like a carousel, wave swinger and bumper cars. The neat thing about this park is the rides are dirt cheap. I rode all three coasters for less than $6 USD. The park is in an area far from the city center and serves locals. The park is also very clean. I hope that the park will do well. I have now ridden 964 coasters, visited 474 parks and found 302 coasters before ACE or RCDB could find them. I have arrived at one of China's newest parks. Here are some of the rides that greeted me. This colorful paratrooper ride entertains visitors here. A powered coaster is here. It is called Golden Dragon Roller Coaster. The dragon looks like it is red and not golden. Why is everything a lie? Outer Space Flying Car is another Chinese kiddie coaster. I am a little kid. These are common all over China. I like the colors they used for this one. It is a very common sight to see in China. This will finish the TR.
jynx242 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Thanks for the pictures. I, for one, had never heard of the place. I always love your reports of obscure places. Sometime, you'll have to post a picture of yourself so I can put a "face to the screen name"
cfc Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 God, I rode so many of those Sliding Dragon and Jungle Mouse coasters when TPR was in China in 2012.
The Angry Darren Mullins Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 Yes. The Dragon and mice coasters are everywhere in this country. Most locals can't afford anything any bigger. This is for those who want to put a face with the name.
jynx242 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 ^Thanks! I meant to say earlier, that is an interesting Paratrooper. It looks much different that the ones I've seen. Are those frogs hanging from it??
Nrthwnd Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 ^ Lol, no those are snails I'm thinking. With frog heads poking out of the top 'covers'.
jedimaster1227 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Am I the only one that finds it strange that for one of the area's newest parks, it looks like it has been around for decades based on the ride lineup and the look and feel of the park?

The Angry Darren Mullins Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 Yes. The ride lineup here is pretty typical of Chinese parks. In someways, ride lineups here remind me of hell's video store in The Far Side where all of the videos were copies of Ishtar. Park A has a jungle mouse and powered dragon. Park B is a 10 minute walk down the street and has a jungle mouse and a powered dragon.
