MisterP Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Just a spectacular movie. I didn't read the book, but the movie is nothing short of FANTASTIC! Matt Damon is superb, probably the best role of his career. Ridley Scott's (Alien, Blade Runner) best movie in a LOOOONG time. So much excitement, comedy (yes, comedy), and a great supporting cast. And it's SMART without being too hard to follow. What a Grade-A crowd-pleasing blockbuster. This is what Hollywood still does right. Must see...on the big screen. In 3D is highly recommended...
Lightning Rod Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 I saw it on the muller monster screen at Lakeville. 80 by 73 feet wide 3 story screen biggest in Minnesota at Muller Family Theatres. The Martian was a good movie. See it on large format on the imax screen in digital 3D.

Diamondbacker27 Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 It was a good movie, but I wouldn't recommend watching it in 3-D. I literally took off my 3-D glasses and watched the movie without them. The screen was so much clearer without them and maybe 7% of the movie was in 3-D

That is more than 7%. Granted, none of the Earth-bound stuff really needs to be in 3-D, but the Mars exteriors are fantastic. But at the same time, I also agree with you that you don't need to see it in 3-D to enjoy it. It's good any which way. Also, to the guy who was wondering about IMAX, I'm pretty sure it's not in IMAX anywhere. Nowhere here in STL either..
