Philrad71 Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 ^Was this Super 8 near what appeared to be a rock quarry? If so, I may have stayed there back when Paramount still owned the park. It wasn't bad then. No. This is just around the corner from the park near the waffle house(across the street from it). Actually, I was asking about the one near Charlotte that Philrad 71 mentioned, but it was off-topic, anyway. I wanted to think that it was on the right side of the interstate up on a hill with not a lot around it. Can't remember if there was a rock quarry there or not though. Glad to hear that they gave you a refund and some comp points, David...hopefully they will hone in on that specific Super 8 and make some much needed improvements.
thrillrider Posted May 23, 2015 Author Posted May 23, 2015 Yea, now I have enough rewards points to cover our hotel for our upcoming universal trip.
thrillrider Posted May 25, 2015 Author Posted May 25, 2015 Me too. I am actually going to fallow up with them and ask if any action is being taken to improve the property.
Blind Idiot God Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Bedbugs? Jesus christ, dude. I've stayed in some bad hotels over the years, but nothing THAT bad. That's the kind of **** that would make me wonder if the previous occupant of the room hadn't shot up or stuffed $60,000 worth of coke in the mattress as a drop point.

Coke is too expensive for the likely occupants of a hotel like that. You're likely dealing with heroin or crack... Maybe some leftover hooker drippings, as well. After spending the last four years in Law Enforcement I make sure to stay in nice hotels. I don't stay anywhere I don't feel comfortable at, which is why it's worth the extra $30-$40 per night at a higher end hotel. I can tell what kinds of activities go on at the lower end hotels just by looking at the clientele. I can't tell you how many heroin overdose cases I've worked even at our local Holiday Inn. Just a suggestion for other people, we've had nothing but good experiences at Hyatts, Marriotts, and Hampton Inns. We choose in that order based on availability. It's worth the extra money.
thrillrider Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 We typically stay at the "nicer" hotels, but for some reason we booked this. We have always stayed at the kings island inn while visiting kings island, but the hotel has since closed so we are looking for a new "go to " hotel in the area.
RaceBoarder Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 It's interesting to read about this experience with Super 8... I've used them for a number of years throughout MI, MN, and WI without issue... The free breakfast and good rooms at a great price being the selling point... Like any chain, locations can differ, and your mileage may vary I guess...
thrillrider Posted May 27, 2015 Author Posted May 27, 2015 That's exactly it.... We have stayed at several super 8 locations before, and never had issues like this. I believe it was just this super 8 location and bad management.
Skcusyevla Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 I was also at Coasterstock and I have to say that I have never seen a more disrespectful display at a park. During the presentation in the KI Theater your family caused much disruption. For a whole hour straight your babies screamed and you wouldn't simply just take them out of the theater. It wouldn't have been that hard.
bgtlover Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 The last time we stayed at a Super 8 was a questionable place north of Charlotte on I-77 several years ago. It wasn't that the place wasn't clean, but the "clientele" that were actually making it their permanent residence in the rooms to either side of us. We should have known we were in trouble when (what looked to be) a 9 year old Indian kid checked us in.... I wanted to think that it was on the right side of the interstate up on a hill with not a lot around it. Can't remember if there was a rock quarry there or not though. Sounds like the one at the Sunset Rd Exit (exit 16a). I used to manage the Taco Bell at that exit...about 20 years ago...lol ^Was this Super 8 near what appeared to be a rock quarry? It's on the southside of Charlotte off Westinghouse Blvd. The quarry is across the street.
