RMC_Hoodie Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 For all you history nerds out there, here's a patent showing Harry Traver's concept for a coaster car that can switch from a sit-down position to a lay-down position during certain portions of the ride. There's even a mention of an "added novelty" whereupon the car can be rigged to deliver mild electric shocks to passengers. https://www.google.com/patents/US1785989?dq=harry+traver&hl=en&sa=X&ei=n-05VK2FJcupogTejYKgBg&ved=0CFUQ6AEwCA 4th dimension coasters and unique, extreme elements on wooden coasters? Sounds familiar...
WFChris Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Because I've always wanted to get 'zapped' mid-ride. Weird.
JonnyRCT3 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 No thanks, I prefer my coasters electrocution free.
gerstlaueringvar Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I'm not getting shocked while riding coasters, never! Harry Traver is a talent, but sometimes he is just insane!
iloveblueberries Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 This is really neat. Basically the first idea for an X2 type of ride was a recliner on wheels. And it even had extra sensory mechanisms! Only nowadays we use flamethrowers instead of directly electrocuting the passengers.
rcjp Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Well, if they install these shock things on mean streak so that they put you asleep before it begins it wouldn't be a bad idea
jedimaster1227 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I'd imagine there would be a lot of need for "cleanup" by the time the ride returned to the station if a park ever ended up enabling this "shock" concept. This could possibly be the worst novelty idea I've heard of for a coaster concept... Even worse than the Wooden Suspended Coaster.
GwaziBSRider1 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 This sounds like something you'd see on a coaster in a country like North Korea.

GwaziBSRider1 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 ^ This might give me nightmares tonight.
