robbalvey Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted to their Facebook page today: As many of you are aware, Old Town has begun a new phase of growth and improvement. At this time, the classic amusement rides have been closed and will be removed from the property to make way for future expansions. The Go Cart rides, Laser Tag, Arcade, Rootin’ Tootin’ Shooting Gallery and The Haunt will all remain open for your families enjoyment. Thank you so much for your patience during this exciting time. Old Town Management Curious to see what this is all about.
djcoastermark Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Kind of like the writing on the wall. I have often thought the rides would be leaving as Fun Spot Kissimmee is right next door and seems to draw a decent crowd. Whereas the rides in old town have always seemed to be very dead as of late.
cfc Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Hmm--considering all the other non-Disney/Universal attractions around Orlando, it's not like this is a huge issue to anyone except die-hard coaster-credit counters.
chickenbowl Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Weird, I got the credits last month! This place was so bizarre, the Windstorm was alright. We went down there to ride the Skycoaster next door, so we picked up the credits too. Not a huge loss, just coincidental.
DLex Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Whew! I got the wacky worm credit on August 7th. I'm sad to say this news didn't really surprise me. Even last year, my group was genuinely uncomfortable walking past some of the shops after dark. Also, the train on windstorm had CHUNKS of the padding missing from the seats. I'm hoping this park re-invents itself with its future attractions.
Jackdude101 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Meh...both of their roller coasters were ordinary portable/carnival coasters and one of those was a wacky worm. ...and nothing of value was lost.
jedimaster1227 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I've never been a huge fan of Old Town. To me it felt dated during the day, and almost unsafe in the evening. Here's hoping the new developments clean up the place and give it a more modern purpose. Fun Spot has the attractions covered next door, so Old Town should really focus on food and entertainment at this point. Rebranding might not hurt either...
cfc Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) Let's hope that they continue to sell amazing merchandise like this. The whole place was like Spencer Gifts with rides. Edited August 27, 2014 by cfc
larrygator Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 ^I can't imagine that fitting you very well.
cfc Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 (edited) ^I can't imagine that fitting you very well. That's fortunate, as there would be something very wrong with you if you did imagine me in it. Edited August 28, 2014 by cfc
djcoastermark Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 But, but, last time I was there, they made it in many different sizes so that it can be worn by anyone. P.S.they do also make it with a "modesty" insert if that may be your apprehension. just sayin'
MrNemis2003 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Sorry that this news is a few months late, But I just came a cross this on Old Town's Facebook Page! http://www.orlandosentinel.com/travel/attractions/theme-park-rangers-blog/os-old-town-kissimmee-renovation-20150729-post.html ANd something I was thinking about since the Osbourne Christmas Lights will be leaving Disney Studios, wouldn't it be cool if they could add it to OLD TOWN, just a thought.
