RCF
Flying Turns Now that they know the design works well... would be perfect for Lagoon, a perfect family ride. Lagoon has an actual Roller Coaster Designer On Staff who has Successfully Designed 3 Steel Coasters for the Park, so I doubt Lagoon would go for something that is unproven. Lagoon could ask Knoebels to work with Dal Freeman to bring a wooden bobsled coaster to Lagoon. Knoebels is getting one of Dal's designs next year, why can't Lagoon ask for the same? TheSchwitek
Ohhh, something is happening on the old Hangman site!Since the ride is constructed now, I can confirm that this attraction will be taking the former location of the Hangman. The Hangman, along with the Eruption, were both recently retired due to major mechanical issues and extreme issues with getting replacement parts. The new ride is, in fact, a Larson Flying Scooters. We hope to have the ride open to the public by mid-May. We are also currently working on re-opening one of our past attractions, so stay tuned for more updates on that as well. We have also added a brand new LED light package to our Grand Centennial Ferris Wheel, as well as various other updates that guests will notice throughout the park. One of those includes the replacement of the History Panels in the Wildcat queue, and new roofs on nearly every major building. I will keep you updated on more as it comes up! Hmm, the old Twister ride looks so sad and lonely. I really wish one of the former owners wouldn't have decided to shut it down. Rotors are such classic rides. New wood and roofs are everywhere in the park... I feel like every ride needs an ID sign, so I'm going to go ahead and make sure that happens. Here's one we made for Sidewinder this year. Lots of work to be done in so little time... The old train car got an overhaul and a structure built around it to keep it in prime condition. More new ride ID signs. And another. Boot Hill Cemetery was a throw back to the old days of Frontier City. We decided to make it look like it used too. The Wildcat got a new sticker using the original logo from 1991. And the old History Panels in the Wildcat queue had seen better days, so I decided to update those as well. I even added some wood coasters from other countries. Those letters that used to be on the side of the Wildcat lift when it was in Kansas look so retro and awesome. I wonder what it would take to bring those back... I figured RMC has made enough of an impact on the history of wooden coasters to be included in the queue as well. So many new things to read in the queue. I really feel like its the small details that make the biggest impressions. Stay tuned for more later! sushi-x
Thanks Schwitek. Past rides I'd love to see reopen are the nightmare and terrible twister. I can't think of any other rides not operating. I'd like to see Quickdraw modified into the 89er ghost mine again. The TLC the park has gotten is greatly appreciated. I live in OKC and take my kids there often. Six Flags didn't put any effort into the park and current management is trying to rectify that. Shavethewhales
Thanks for the info TheSchwitek! This is yet another great year of updates and improvements to the park since the hand-over in ownership. I think I'll have to pay the place a visit again this year. I've been holding off until they got a decent new ride, but I think flyers are good enough. With all the improvements, all that's missing is a new ride to point to as the marquee attraction. I hope they dish out the big bucks next year and nudge this park over the ledge into being a bonafide regional attraction again.

Shavethewhales
Frontier City just announced that the old Terrible Twister rotor ride that has been SBNO for years has reopened under the name 'The Tumbleweed'. Another awesome move by this park. I thought that ride was just going to rot away. I'm planning on heading out there next week and will probably do a PTR of all the new stuff. It's been a couple of years since I've visited. I can't believe how much new stuff there is now, the park used to be static for so long with little investment. Shavethewhales
I think we could use a general frontier city discussion thread. I'm at the park now for my first visit in two or three years, and so far it's not off to a great start. There's a massive set of lines out of the front gate just to get in. I waited for 15mins before I realized I wasn't even in the line to get tickets when a park employee finally showed up to sort people out. Now I'm back in line and it looks like it will be another 30 mins before I even get in. I'm not even mad though, I'm so glad to see the park finally doing this well. Hopefully they'll be able to optimize this entry process soon, though I fear it may take building an entirely new entrance. The concert series and corporate events combined with all the recent general improvements are really lifting this park.
Kemotblue01
I asked and Frontier City delivered....I messaged them asking about if there is any plans of adding a new attraction in 2015 since most parks across the U.S. were adding major attractions or hinting about adding major attraction in 2015. I asked if they do plan on adding something when can one expect the teasing to start or if there is any plans for a attraction at next season. I got a response back pretty quickly. They thanked me for being a loyal guest and all they can say is..."Stay Tuned"...... with the smiley face emoticon. I cannot wait till they start teasing. It is driving me nuts knowing they will be adding an attraction next year hopefully something more thrilling then the winged warrior.
Shavethewhales
Interesting... Could mean anything coming from them though. CNL seems to be fairly stingy with their properties. In typical holding company behavior, they want to build up the value of their properties with as little capital investment as possible. However, I think FC is in a prime position for something major that would really put it back in the spotlight. They've done an excellent job with the concert series - the park has been packed out numerous times this season. All the rides and the park in general are in good shape now and their Halloween event should be very popular once again this year. There's so much going for them right now, but it still feels like the park is missing a star attraction. I'm not expecting much for 2015. If we're lucky, we'll get a decent flat ride of some sort in ErUPtion's old space. A new coaster really would be ideal though, and that's not even the coaster enthusiast in me speaking. The park really does need a modern, appealing, star coaster to market. I'd love one of those GCII out-and-backs such as White Lightning or Starliner II. Kemotblue01
I'm guessing they would probably put in a Tower ride not a coaster. Just because they removed their last tower ride Hangman to make room for the winged warrior. They also have the void area of the Eruption. So I see them adding some type of tower attraction. A good idea would be one of those sky swings in the old eruption area. Plenty of space for that type of ride or a tower drop ride. It's weird having a theme park without a tower ride. Your right about another coaster I would like to see them bring back the nightmare mine coaster. A newer model of course not a reused galaxy coaster. That would be a nice addition. I know that would take away their once a year attraction spot the Haunted house. It just seems such a waste of a large building. I will wait patiently if they do announce or start teasing it is not until the Holiday season when they start pushing Season Ticket sales in November. If they add anything larger they have plenty of space they have over 40 acres of untouched land. 10 acres they use for storage. Just curious what they will do to the park. I did find out the refurbished Casino will be returned to service in September. The ride is getting a complete overhaul and update by Chance Rides out of Kansas. So going to be nice to see another old park favorite being restored.
