The Angry Darren Mullins Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I was in South Korea recently for a vacation. I stopped by Children's Grand Park to get photos of the new suspended coaster under construction there. The amusement park area of Children's Grand Park is under renovation and is supposed to reopen in April, but it appears they have a lot of work to do and there are still many rides they have to build before that time. I wonder if they will open a partially completed rides area and complete the other rides later. The 88 Train looping coaster has been removed to make room for the new coaster. The big Ferris wheel has also been removed along with many other rides. Some of the rides remain like the Crazy Mouse and the break dance ride. Most of the rides will be new additions. I have included a photo of the new park map for those of you who want to know what the park will look like and for those of you who have visited before and want to see how much the park will be changed. Despite the fact that many rides have been removed for the renovation, the Crazy Mouse is still here. Here is Korea's newest coaster. It replaces the 88 Train, which provided me with many rides-some fun, some painful when I lived near Seoul. It should provide many years of entertainment to families in Korea. Here is what the amusement area of Children's Grand Park will look like when it is completed.
kailisun98 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 That vekoma junior suspended coaster looks like freedom flyer at Fun Spot...
The Angry Darren Mullins Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 It is the same model as the one at Fun Spot. Vekoma is known for cloning the family coasters. It only makes sense. Most families will not know there are 50 others just like it(I know there are not 50 of these models yet, but give it time).
Looty Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Wow...I live in Seoul now and I had no idea this was happening. Thanks for the update!
The Angry Darren Mullins Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 @Looty: Children's Grand Park has it's own station on the Seoul Metro. You can also go to Achasan station, which puts you at the rear entrance to Children's Grand Park and is actually closer to the rides.
Solid Gold Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Wow wtf! I can now add 88 train to the defunct coasters I've been on, and the sheer randomness of there being a South Korean freedom flyer clone out of nowhere. WTF! Does the crazy mouse operate now, or will it? I missed That one, Eagle's Fortress, Black Hole Express, Fantasia Special, Space Tour, and all of Woobang towerland as closed but visited attractions when I studied abroad there. Ugh missing credits.
The Angry Darren Mullins Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 The Crazy Mouse will operate again when the rides open.
simon8899 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Always great to see your TRs. Kind of redundant to have a Swinging Ship and a Frisbee kind of ride side by side...
The Angry Darren Mullins Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 It does seem redundant to have a giant frisbee and a giant swinging ship side by side, but there is a park in Incheon that has three swing ships side by side by side and a there are two parks in Jechjeon, South Korea that exist next to each other by a lake. Each park has eight rides. Seven of the rides in one park can be find in the park next to it. At last one of those parks has an ice slide in it (that exists on the roof of a building).
Garet Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Korea parks tend to be like that. Lotte World has so many different shooting and 3d rides now extremely close together, Everland also runs more than one 3d film and Seoul Land claims to have a 3D, 4D and 5D ride all close together. I'm still surprised there is a gyro-swing when Lotte Worlds one (and drop tower) has had to add scream shields due to noise complaints from the noise carrying when it swings up high. Another blogger posted an update on this park: http://szsup.tistory.com/623 Anyone know the model of that drop tower/bungee I haven't seen one before that has one cable and wheel like in the video.
