_koppen
So yet another water park is in the works for Thailand! This one will be up in the north east, in a small city called Khon Kaen. It's not one of the biggest tourist destinations in the country, and that is probably why someone wants to build this park there. The park will be called Dino WaterPark (at least that's the project name). It says that the park will open this spring, which I believe is a bit to optimistic, or outdated, but I would hope for it to open before next christmas as I will do a big round trip of Thailand then. The whole park looks to be from Polin, which is a very good thing! Out of two planned Polin water parks in Thailand, one is now open, and one almost completed. Compare this to Whitewater, who has announced 5 water parks, all of which have not been built. Sure it's just a coincidence, but still. Here are some renderings of what to except, if the park actually opens up. Overview of the park. Awesome looking body slide complex, with tube slide with the chambers as well. Octopus racer, with the trademarked Polin "not so step and airtime-less" drop. Family raft slide, and tube bowl slide. Also Polin will do there first real inverting loop slides here. This is a family boomerang, and a Magicone, Polin's version of the Tornado. They have both been available for years, and hopefully this park will open up so they finally get built. Will most likely deliver the same experience as the Tornado, only slightly different look. There is also a gigantic play structure planned. Another angle. The loops again, along with two regular speed slides. Dirt has started to be moved. I'm not sure when though, so it's hard to say where they are at. YoshiFan
It looks like it will end up being a very nice water park. That kids area looks like it has more slides than others.
jedimaster1227
And once again, Polin ends up being the major supplier of another new water park. This company has come a long way in a very short span of time!
Midgetman82
Yep, Polin sure has stepped up their game to be among the big-guns of water park manufacturers, along with ProSlide and WhiteWater. This looks amazing!
LA Dan
I fail to see why it is called Dino Land as there is absolutely no theming to the park other than the entry sign.
Midgetman82
Lots of parks have have centered themes without actually theming their attractions, although this park does need to tone down the dino entrance a bit. That might be where all the theming money went to.
_koppen
This company has come a long way in a very short span of time! To be fair, Polin has always been a major supplier. They are just gaining main stream recognition now. Their main focus earlier has only been Europe and the Arabian tourist countries (that last market is however HUGE!). They are the second biggest water park company in the world, only Whitewater is bigger. I fail to see why it is called Dino Land as there is absolutely no theming to the park other than the entry sign. It's just basic concept art of the rides, I would except much more theming when the park is done, if they are keeping the name.
SharkTums
I fail to see why it is called Dino Land as there is absolutely no theming to the park other than the entry sign. This was my first thought as well. There better be a lot of dinosaurs once the park is done! I want a slide where I end up in a T-Rex Mouth! cfc
^Hmm--I might draw the line at a slide where you enter a T-Rex mouth, then shoot out the other end.

_koppen
I have found some more concept art for the park! Overview of the park, with more than just the rides. Concept art from Polin, of the play structure. Lot's of dinosaurs here! This is the new generation of play structures from Polin, the first one will open this summer at the Cartoon Network park. The old generation they had was nice, but these new ones will be dynamite, and maybe even better than Whitewater's. It's not only land clearing, work have actually begun. It's so awesome to see that this park may actually get built! Hopefully it will be open before christmas. Source Source
_koppen
I have been doing some digging around since I found out about this, and heres what I've found. Better quality overview This tower has been changed slightly for the final version The park has actually gone quite far in construction. The earlier posted photos of the bottom of the wave pool being poured is the latest. Here are some slightly older ones. Source

_koppen
Just a small update. I have to say they are really hauling ass with construction (unlike all the other water park constructions in Thailand). The wave pool is almost completely rebared, the river is dug out, all of the slide towers is into construction as well as the pool area beneath the huge play structure is starting to take shape. _koppen
The park have pretty much stopped putting construction photos on their FB, but the first parts for the slides from Polin have now shown up on the site, and I remembered a while ago the wave machines from world leading Murhy's Waves arrived. The fiberglass parts should start to arrive within the next few weeks. Source

Shavethewhales
I don't know if this has been discussed elsewhere already, but is Polin yet another rip-off manufacturer? I'm seeing just about every major product from western waterpark companies represented here... all made by Polin. An entire sub-industry ripped off in one swoop. This issue has been worrying me more and and more lately.

I'm seeing just about every major product from western waterpark companies represented here... all made by Polin. An entire sub-industry ripped off in one swoop. This issue has been worrying me more and and more lately. Polin Waterparks was the first slide manufacturer to create natural light effects and other manufacturers followed. However, Polin is the only manufacturer, at this time, that can offer light effect system with RTM technology. Which means light effect system and closed molded technology. Polin holds the patent on that. Polin was the inventor of KING COBRA, holding worldwide patents. This slide, as well as other slides, created for parks including Cartoon Network Amazone have the design and theming gel coated during production versus how other manufactures paint the slides afterwards. The SPHERE waterslide is another signature Polin ride that other manufactures created similar slides after Polin launched and installed it. Magic Sphere and Super Combo again are two new signature rides created by Polin Waterparks. Many of Polin’s family rides, bowl rides, free falls, body rides are standard and all waterslide manufacturers have them. Polin is investing a lot both in waterslide manufacturing technologies and in new ride development and they will continue to do so.

Polin, like all the other western slide companies, develops their own version of all the rides they build. It's just how the industry works, if someone is developing a new slide, then all the other manufacturers are going to build their own version of it. In China and India slide manufacturers straight out copy the western water slide designs, that is the big difference. Example: Original Proslide Topsy Turvy Whitewater West Rattler Polin Space Shuttle Chinese knock-off
Shavethewhales
^Fair enough. I haven't been watching the waterpark industry closely lately, but dang that's a lot of convergence really quick. It would be so frustrating for me to work in this industry since any great idea I came up with would instantly be replicated by every competitor. I guess slide technology just isn't advanced enough for there to be much proprietary knowledge inolved - it looks like just a bunch of fiberglass molds. Getting back to the original topic at hand though, I like seeing a nicely themed water park. I haven't figured out yet why so many foreign parks seem to focus on theming and atmosphere so much more than american parks. I also like how so much of the park's area is water vs. a bunch of singular attractions that are broken up by long spans of concrete walkways. The "empty" areas employ a lot of foliage. Good all around design here.
