adamd Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 We all saw Six Flags announce their 2014 attractions this morning. With that being said which attraction(s) are you most looking forward to and how do you feel about the overall announcements? For me I am looking forward to Goliath. For how compact of an area that is I think they really made the best of it and I am seriously debating going out to SFGAM next season to go on that (I also want to go on X-Flight as I haven't been on a Wing Rider yet). I already have Lex Luthor, so that will be pretty close to Zumanjaro (which looks awesome too BTW) For the overall, and from my perspective I cant shy away from this fact. Six Flags claims to be the best/largest thrill park chain in the world *saying "world" in Jim Andersons voice* and I know they're gearing more toward families this season, but I think it was a big miss that they only added ONE thrill coaster in the states (and of course Medusa in Mexico). Both are from the same company and there was no wing rider, premier launched or Eurofighter at any of their other parks. I hope this is just so they have a HUGE budget in 2015, but I think this year OVERALL was pretty lackluster. My home park is SFMM and I wasn't expecting anything there, BUT I was expecting more throughout the chain to be honest.
alwaysairtime14 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Looked fine to me. Every park got something interesting. Not a crappy restaurant or show. Yes, Discovery Kingdom got a show, but the full time schedule makes up for it. Shows true commitment by Six Flags, especially since SFDK is one of their lesser parks. Both Goliath and Medusa look like tons of fun. Those g's through Goliath's final turn look like they could cause gray outs. SFNE is my home park, and the SkyScreamer looks great. Should be a popular addition, since the area parks don't have anything remotely close to that height. And it'll be good to see the Cyclone get a higher ridership, maybe enough to get the park to run both trains most days.
Eaglefan9727 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 And it'll be good to see the Cyclone get a higher ridership, maybe enough to get the park to run both trains most days. Did I miss something? How is Cyclone going to get higher ridership? What I would like to see what SFNE do is cut down ALL those trees in that one specific area and put in a couple more coasters for the park as SFNE is my home park as well....

Because the rumored SkyScreamer site is where Catapult was, which is right next to the Cyclone. During, and now without Catapult the Cyclone never had more than a 20 minute wait. A popular ride will bring more guests in that area.
yankeeman311 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I'm very excited for my home park's addition of Zumanjaro but I have to say that the big winner was Great America getting Goliath. A couple of the elements on there look unbelievable. I was already considering taking a trip out to Chicago for Wrigley Field next year but this made Chicago an even more probable spot for a mini vacation. I hope to ride that next year .
gerstlaueringvar Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Actually my favorite amount these new rides is Medusa Steel Coaster. It just looks longer, has more airtime hills.
cmullin Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 ^ My favorite is also Medusa, it looks insane, lots of airtime hills, and an awesome zero-g-roll. But Goliath is a close second, hopefully it meets the standards of Outlaw Run, or exceeds them.
yay101 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Having my home park be SFGAm, I think Goliath is the best! Medusa comes in 2nd, although its drop gives Goliath competition. Personally, I am really pleased though that La Ronde and The Great Escape are getting a flat ride each. I like flat rides.

You might be right, But I guess we will have to wait and see on what takes place next year at the park.
Canobie Coaster Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 While I probably won't be able to ride the RMC creations next year, Medusa and Goliath both look like the best additions and if they're like their other coasters, both parks are getting real winners. I'm really excited for the two 400 footers in Zumanjaro and the New England Sky Screamer since I should be able to ride both next year. Overall, Six Flags seemed to do a great job finding attractions that compliment their parks well rather than just copying and pasting an addition chain-wide.
robbalvey Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Please discuss the Six Flags Announcements in their appropriate threads, thanks. There is no need to start another thread when we are already talking about all these rides.
