It’s a hard choice because WDW has allot more attractions and more of a feeling of getting away out of the city’s. But my vote will go towards Disneyland, why there are a few reasons.

First its the original park that Walt Disney built and not a copy that WDW was. It might not have all the rides that WDW has but it does have almost all the original attractions such as pirates and Indiana Jones.

Second hey it’s my home quite literally, since I had grown up there as a kid and now work there. Until I finish college then I’m out!

I'm definitely a fan of both parks, but WDW has my vote. I recently spent a few days at DLR, and I kept thinking how a lot of their attractions were better than some of the ones at WDW (Indy, Pirates, Screamin', everything in Fantasyland...). However, going to WDW is just the ultimate Disney experience. It's not only about the parks, but also the amazing resorts, restaurants, etc.

Even if you don't stay on property you are totally immersed. You have to try hard to be reminded that the outside world exists at WDW.

A professor of mine who happens to be a DVC member was commenting on that recently. He says WDW is the only place he's been to where he doesn't think about the outside world at all

Still, Disneyland gets my vote. I enjoy the Magic Kingdom style parks most and I think Disneyland has Magic Kingdom whipped. Much better attractions, more dark rides, and less walking. Granted I've only visited Disneyland in January when it was not at all crowded. Also, California Screamin' is far and away my favorite Disney coaster. And Blue Bayou is my favorite Disney restaurant.

Obviously, if you add up the entire experience WDW is going to win. More hotels than you could ever stay in, great food everywhere, 4 huge parks with more to do than you could ever imagine, water parks that are nearly peerless. Not to mention the fact that when you travel to WDW you can also get your B&M fix on at Universal, Busch, and Sea World.

Still, something about Disneyland, how it's like a summary sheet of only really good attractions and not 8 hours of walking apart gives it a slight edge for me. Disneyland, for me, is like that neighborhood grocery store that somehow manages to stock everything you need even though there is a big box megastore up the street with 10x more stuff.

But this poll wasn't "Disneyland or Magic Kingdom" it was "Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World."

When we checked into a WDW resort in January we were supposed to go right out to Sea World (we have annual Passes) then the next day IOA/Uni. Needless to say we skipped Sea World and were nearly 'bummed' to have to go to Universal. There's just something magical and awesome about staying on property! (or perhaps it's something they put in the water!)

WDW is far, far better as a destination. I love DLR, but I can get bored after a day or two. The resort in Florida is just so complete; it's hard to NOT find something to do there. Epcot is by far my favorite Disney park, so WDW certainly has that going for it as well.

Disneyland itself is way better than MK for me, but the entire experience (and park advantage) is far superior in Orlando.

If you have one day, DLPark is the best bet in the U.S. In one normal day, you can experience just about every classic Disney attraction (many in their superior to-WDW-versions).

WDW is a far superior vacation destination where you can spend a week and still not see everything the resort has to offer.

Best summary of the situation.

I've been to both WDW and Disneyland, and I find Disneyland to be far superior.

First off, Disneyland park is the original. I feel that The Magic Kindgdom in Florida simply cannot capture the Magic that is the californian park. Disney World has a much more artificial and spaced out feel whereas Disneyland has a more intimate, traditional feel. The trees and vegetation are much more mature and dominate the view, and the pedestrian areas and walkways are smaller and have a more varied gradation.

It's widely known that most versions of shared attractions are indeed superior at Disneyland. Pirates is almost double the length of Florida's. Haunted Mansion, while not quite as cool looking at Disneyland, is much better than it's clone in florida. Florida doesn't have Indiana Jones or Matterhorn. Space mountain in California is without a doubt superior. It is also quite a bit faster. Splash Mountain is the only magic kingdom attraction that is superior in florida. Everything Else (Pirates, Mansion, Thunder, Space, Small World) are much better at Disneyland!

It also should be noted that Disneyland Park has 48 attractions while the magic kingdom in florida has only 38. Many key attractions are missing (mr toad, etc)

I did not count character meet and greats at either park. You obviously get more bang for your buck in California.
