krakenmaniac Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Hi, I will be going to Disney World during April 3rd, 4th, 5th, and half of the 6th. We have a four day park-hopper, and we are not staying on property. Questions: -Which park to go to on what day -How to menuever around the parks(what rides to hit when) -Meals(we plan to do one "nice" dinner while we are there) -What rides to Fastpass Thank You.
A.J. Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 From my own personal experience, "what park to do on what day" is kind of a wildcard, especially during Spring Break, because it's going to be busy no matter where you go. This year however, lots of people are probably going to want to check out the shiny new stuff in Fantasyland. So, you would think that you would want to stay out of Magic Kingdom, but Fantasyland crowds could mean that the other major attractions (the mountains) would be a little less agonizing. What I would do personally (if I wanted to hit all four parks) would be to do one-and-a-half days at Magic Kingdom, one day at EPCOT, one-half day at Animal Kingdom, and one-half day at Hollywood Studios. I personally don't like Hollywood Studios that much though, and I would do two days at Magic Kingdom instead. But, you sound like you want to hit all four. Whatever you do, you ABSOLUTELY MUST have a Plan B. Use the Disney Parks mobile app or the wait time boards to judge crowd levels. Since you have a park-hopper, if you get into Magic Kingdom and suddenly find that you have no room to think or breathe, you can just exit out and take the buses or monorails to another park.
adamico2 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I have found touringplans.com to be very helpful in the past. It provides a lot of free content about Disney, including restaurant menus and recomendations. Also, for $12 you can get step by step touring guides for the parks that really work well to make the most of your time. Keep in mind the parks will be packed over Spring Break.
robbalvey Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Check the park schedules and avoid going to any parks that have extra magic hours in the morning.
azza29 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 ^^Touringplans.com is a great resource, especially if it's your first time visiting the parks. Even if you don't follow their suggested itineraries, they have plenty of good tips that will help you get the most out of your visit.
krakenmaniac Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Thank you. I think i have a plan for what parks each day. The first day we plan on going to the Hollywood Studios. Once we are done with that we will go to Magic Kingdom. we also plan on seeing Fantasmic that night. The next day we will go to EPCOT. I think EPCOT is a full day so we will stay there until the nighttime spectacular, and if we want go to the Magic Kingdom after we can because it is open until 1. The third day we will go to Animal Kingdom, and when we are done we will head over to Magic Kingdom to see Wishes. I don't know what to do the last half day we are there. Any suggestions? Any comments or corrections to my plan?
SharkTums Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 ^What's the reasoning behind doing Hollywood Studios - Magic Kingdom - Hollywood Studios in a day?
krakenmaniac Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 I really dont know. I just know that we want to see all three of the nightime spectaculars and we have three nights there so it would be the only time to see it. Any suggestions to change it?
SharkTums Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 First off, I would skip Fantasmic, but if you're into shows, ok fine... Day 1 - Magic Kingdom then Hollywood Studios Day 2 - Epcot Day 3 - Animal Kingdom then Magic Kingdom Of course this is my plan not knowing what days you're going, what Extra Magic Hours are for those days, what you actually want to do and what's important, etc. That could change a lot what I would suggest.
krakenmaniac Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 All of the parks I am going to at opening will not have extra magic hours in the morning. As for stuff I want to do, really everything. Shows we could care less, except for Lights, Motors, Action which we havent seen since it wasnt there the last time we went. We really like Animal Kingdom we could spend a good amount of time there. We really just want to do rides at the Studios. And Magic Kingdom I woould like to do most of every ''land''.
robbalvey Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Shows we could care less, except for Lights, Motors, Action which we havent seen since it wasnt there the last time we went. I would actually suggest watching a video of Lights, Motors, Action and see if its something that is a "must", because honestly, it's not that great and eats up at least an hour of your day.
krakenmaniac Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Thanks. Also another question, where do you get the praised cheese soup that you guys keep raving on?!?
robbalvey Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Thanks. Also another question, where do you get the praised cheese soup that you guys keep raving on?!? I'm assuming you're talking about the one we post about during Food & Wine? It's either at the Canada Food & Wine booth, or you can get it at the restaurant in Canada, which is one of the harder ones to get a priority seating at, so you have to do it early, or go there RIGHT when the place opens at 11am.
CoasterFEV Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Reading this thread - my gut tells me that you are REALLY under-estimating what the crowds are like during Easter week/peak Spring Break in Orlando. It's as bad as Christmas week and, honestly, most guests aren't really prepared for just how crowded the parks can get. It's that time of year when people-eaters like Pirates of the Caribbean hit 45-minute waits Great that you are pre-planning and going in with a war plan. It's the absolute only way to survive those peak weeks in Orlando.
SharkTums Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 ^I agree. Seeing everything he's posted now about how much he wants to do and only has three days and isn't staying on property. Good luck!
jray21 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Check the park schedules and avoid going to any parks that have extra magic hours in the morning. In addition to what Robb said, I also look at which park had the evening EMH the night before. For example, if EMH was at Epcot the night before, I would usually pick Epcot because a lot of people just spent all evening there. I always go to a park that either had EMH the night before, or doesn't have it that morning.
gisco Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 ^ I have done that too. I try and avoid the EMH parks and hit them the followung day.
