Noah's Ark Kiddie Amusement Park in Nimisilla Park on Mahoning Road NE closed Monday, after a little more than a month of operation. “Dine Amusement decided the venue was not profitable,” said Councilman Thomas West, D-2. West worked with Joel Dine, of Canton, the owner and operator of the rides and concession stands, to open the scaled-down amusement park, set to operate through the summer. “I think he was a good partner,” he said. “He needed to recoup his expenses,” West said. “I think he expected more. “It takes a community to support an event like that.” The park opened last month on weekends, then weekdays after schools went on summer break. The rides were geared toward toddlers and young children, and really weren’t drawing a lot of business, he said. West said Dine moved the equipment to a location near Lake Erie. It’s not a death knell for the park, West said. The Nimisilla Park Revitalization Committee, similar to a neighborhood association, has been in existence for five or six years, and is getting stronger, he said. “The whole committee believes there’s something special in that park,” West said. One improvement is a supervised playground from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this summer. West said there are other neighborhood and community activities planned for the park. gisco Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Didn't have much of a business plan if the park only lasted a month.
sspaz1000 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Wow that's a bit of an epic fail right there. Seriously, you can't give up after one month, but that's what happens when things aren't planned out correctly.
chadster Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Hmmm, I think we might have a new record for shortest time a park has been in operation. Wild West World hit two months before they gave up.
cfc Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Didn't have much of a business plan if the park only lasted a month. Not if you planned to only be open for one month.
ILoveRides Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 (edited) ^ lol. In that case they deserve congratulations on a well crafted and perfectly executed plan. Edited June 22, 2012 by ILoveRides
