simon8899 Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 First construction pics.... 60 meter ferris wheel by showmen Steiger Hmmmm.....looks familiar.... Something still missing.....
QueerRudie Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I think I need to change my boxers... quickly. STUNNING pics of one of His greatest works going up. Nothing beats a massive Schwarzkopf Erection anyday!
gisco Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Something looks a little familiar in that last picture!
simon8899 Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 If weather forecast holds I'll be there comming saturday for my first ride of the year....
simon8899 Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 First weekend of spring carnival for first ride of the year.... Still a lil early - so only one subway station down to the harbour. Upper broadwalk with newly added floodgates installed for Global Warming floods. View from a ferry. Aida Luna in port. Weekend or not - germany's largest port always busy. But then it was finally past 3 pm. Mondial Inferno "Airwolf" already going tupsy-turvy. What a nice way to begin a new year coasterwise! Zierer Waveswinger with something very big and very swingy in the back. As the weather is shiny - some rafting fun. Waveswinger against the sun... Atlantis Rafting theming... Music Express nearly always fully loaded. Happy poeple! View down the midway with a BreakDancer on the left and the Zierer Star-Shape "High Energy" in the back. Break Dancer was very crowded this day! If wanted to get a ride you had to jump onto the octagon while it was still spinning out and the gondolas were still not secured in position - I already see some US safety guys getting nightmares about it... Mostly the ride didn't stop completly at all and begun spinning up when all restraints were down again. After this hustle and bustle a relaxing view down to the ferris wheel. But isn't that an Octopus head on the right??? Yes, Schwarzkopf Monster in full swing! German carnival classic - love this ride! Waiting for launch - with kiddie flat and Star-Shape in the back. Ummmm.....Beer! But you've to climb to get one... Contrary to the look of it its actually a pretty smooth ride. In case you wondered: The Frisbee by showman Robrahn is of course also here. Classic Rotor. Hmmmm....I need to get off this ferris wheel... Looking like a model kit from up above. Lights....Music....Action! Taking another spin as the sun is setting. Airwolf features a great light package. European take on the american tilt-a-whirl. Here called Waltz-Ride. Before heading home the final ride of the day is Shaker. If weather holds cu wednesday!
gisco Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Looks like there are a lot of cool rides. I still can't get over the lack of guard rails around some of the rides.
A.J. Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I like how one of the Breakdance cars is painted to look like the new McLaren F1 car.
simon8899 Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 Had a great spin again last afternoon on "Family Buget Day" with most rides at €2 and Olympia at €5.... And only then noted that the Monster still has the original manufacturer's logo on each gondola - will try to get a better picture with my "real" camera next time...
simon8899 Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 This photo report is bird-approved! classic Music-Express looking good wordls biggest portable glass-mirror-maze... after one long week finally another spin! swoooosh... Homer: Ahhh.....Loopon..... Double-Swinger Beware: Konga swings! and another Music-Express... Dancer... so many things to do.... Star Shape - with Millerntor floodlights in the back, home of FC St. Pauli! something bavarian... sign of excellence. Should there be beer in amusment parks? Have a Beer To Go over it! Auto-Scooter! best non-looping part: curve between the first and second loop at 50 mph! After the last of three spins....
cfc Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 All the insane lighting makes it look like one of the gaudier parts of Tokyo. Did they have some good dark rides?
simon8899 Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 lol...I always think that at US carnivals the light-packages of the rides are very, very basic... Sadly most darkrides are quite old and are all ghost-houses....but you mostly laugh yourself to dead than beeing scared.
Nrthwnd Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Did they have some good dark rides? Took the question right out of my head Chuck, heh heh. Yes. ^ What he asked.
odene497 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 best non-looping part: curve between the first and second loop at 50 mph! I agree completely! Especially in the back and after a visit to the beer tent.
