crispy
YES!!, ok some MAJOR changes for this challenge, and I am excited FIRST!, A huge thanks to Pucechan, who really makes alot of this happen, and also to Bocakey and Allison *****ATTENTION: To include scenery, you will have to build a custom scenerio, we can and probably will provide one, but that will limit whats available in RCT2, so any coaster built in the 20x30 border will be accepted, also, we are going to need THE PARK FILE, not the coaster file, to include the scenery For the FIRST time this one will have THEMEING, yes THEMEING, the only restriction will be no tunnels, you can sink the ground, and build over it like in RCT3, or use "fake tunnels" REMEMBER, THE 20X30 IS A MAXIMUM, THE COASTER AND/OR SCENERY CANNOT EXCEED THIS BOUNDRY, BUT IT DOES NOT NEED TO FILL IT UP EITHER AND!!!!!!! you can have MORE THAN ONE ENTRY!!!!!!!!!, yes kenshinmac, you can have 30 entries if you like, but PLEASE don't, lol OK lets get to the rules THE RULES: READ CAREFULLY, AS THERE HAS BEEN MAJOR CHANGES All entries must be submitted by September 16th If you have any questions at all, please feel free to PM, me or pucechan Here is a rundown of the competition * Build a 20x30 GIga Coaster, Intamin style, or like Expedition Geforce * The Coaster Must have an excitement rating above 6.5, and an intensity below 8.5 * The entrance and exit must be functional, and inside the 20x30 square, no paths should be built however * No tunnels * Competition is open to RCT3,and RCT2. RCT1 owners need to pm me or pucechan if they want to enter. The coaster should be built on a FLAT 20x30 piece of land * All entries must be received within one week of this date. or September 16th, All entries will then be placed in a poll and voted on by TPR members with a one week voting window * To submit your entry, Attach the PARK SV6(RCT2), or DAT(RCT3) file along with at least one picture with your submission post * When posting your coaster picture it MUST have the coasters ratings in the picture * Winners will receive a Award Banner stating they are the RCT Coaster Challenge Champion, with a date on it * Multiple entries are allowed REMEMBER TO NAME YOUR COASTER, AS THAT IS HOW IT WILL BE LISTED IN THE VOTING. Most of all have fun and be creative with your designs Chris FYI, I will post examples later today Edited September 9, 2005 by crispy
FishyFish
Hi, Can you clear up a few points of confusion please? The rules say that the ride has to be built on a flat piece of land, but also that you can sink the ground to make false tunnels? Does this also mean that hills are out? Plus, when you say that no paths should be built from the entrance / exit, does this mean that no paths can be built at all? Thanks, Fishy
crispy
OK, first, this should be in the coaster challenge chat, but to answer your questions You can add hills, we will make a custom scenerio available shortly with the 20x30 painted intot the ground no you can add paths, but they cannot go beyond the 20x30 border

kenshinmac
Ok so wait... We can make it a functional coaster as long as the paths don't go onto the 20x30 space, right? Like link it up with paths and all... BTW I don't think it will be possible for RCT1 owners to participate as I am 90% sure that this coaster style wasn't even in the game. Well anyway I get to make my crappy attempts at theming public... Yahoo!!!
crispy
you can make the paths, i guess there is no reason not to now that I think about it, and yeah, sorry I guess RCT1 is out this round, although we have never gotten a RCT1 entry just remeber, the path entrance and exit MUST be inside the 20x30 square space

Well anyway I get to make my crappy attempts at theming public... Yahoo!!! The only real reason that pathing wasn't allowed in previous contests is because as far as the games are concerned it is classed as theming, and depending on how and where you position paths it could alter the various coaster ratings. There is no reason not to allow it for this contest although you don't HAVE to. So feel free to go wild! P.S. We've never received an RCT1 entry we were just being polite, but yeah they can't participate in this one.
Erik Johnson
Ok here is my first entry for this contest. The Hell Mouth For RCT3 (not soaked) The Hellmouth with its ratings. The Hell Mouth's loading area. The coaster gets its name from this steep hidden drop (the coaster's 2nd big drop) into the abyss. A side view of The Hell Mouth. The green cauldron on the left hand side marks the hidden drop. The Hellmouth20x30_giga_theming_challenge.dat Ok here is the track, fixed according to the rules. FishyFish
Here's my first attempt: Anaconda p.s. Are we allowed to continue the theming outside the 20x30 area? i.e. have the park surrounded by mountains, or a lake? The whole ride... comp_park1_v2.zip Anaconda: Giga Coaster created in RCT3 (Soaked) by FishyFish Edited September 10, 2005 by FishyFish
DragonKhan
Two questions: 1) Do you have to use the given szenario, or can you provide you own as long as it's 20x30. Because I don't have the RCT2 expansion packs. 2) Same question as before. Can you have szenery outside the 20x30 border? It will obviously not affect rating... Sir Clinksalot
Two questions: 1) Do you have to use the given szenario, or can you provide you own as long as it's 20x30. Because I don't have the RCT2 expansion packs. These should really be asked in the Coaster Challenge Chat thread, you'd find the 1st one has already been answered. But I'll post the answer here as well. Basically no, they are just supplied so people can use them if they aren't sure how to go about doing the setup for the contest. If you use RCT3 you have no real reason not to use the supplied template as you have all the scenery available all the time. In RCT2 however you are limited with how much scenery you can include in each scenario. In that case you can either use the scenario we've supplied or make your own. As long as the 20x30 rule and all other rules are observed by all entries it's fine. The templates we've supplied are just for ease of use. All entries will be checked for compliance with the rules as they are posted, and if for any reason they don't qualify the author will be PM'ed and given the opportunity to revise the coaster. As for your second question... 2) Same question as before. Can you have szenery outside the 20x30 border? It will obviously not affect rating... No you can't have scenery outside the 20x30 border because it DOES affect the coaster rating (depending on how far away it is amongst other things). The coaster AND theming have to reside in the 20x30 area.
Sir Clinksalot
p.s. Are we allowed to continue the theming outside the 20x30 area? i.e. have the park surrounded by mountains, or a lake? Hey FishyFish, First, good looking coaster To answer your question, all theming has to be within the 20x30 area, theming and land structure outside the 20x30 area can still have an effect on the coasters ratings. Keeping it all within the 20x30 area keeps it fair and easier to judge/monitor.
DragonKhan
Do you get points for realism? Because I HATE using that "lift, turn, lift, turn" style to get heigth. Mine is gonna be not tall at all for that, but I think everybody just has to look at EGF to see that this is not needed.

You don't get "POINTS" for anything, these contests are for fun. As long as your coaster meets the requirements it passes to the voting stage. People then vote on which one they like the best, it's as simple as that. P.S. can you please post comments and questions in the RCT Coaster Challenge CHAT! thread? Sir Clinksalot
Darn, I would do this if I wasn't doing the BETA and Atari would eat me even if it didn't reveal anything. I'm also in the Wild! BETA along with Bocakey and no doubt many other TPR members, and I'll still be entering using my Regular RCT3, it's not rocket science to have seperate RCT3, Soaked! and Wild! installations. Also Atari wouldn't eat you if you didn't reveal anything as you wouldn't be breaking the NDA at all. So stop trying to be dramatic, you are not special . P.S. your post should be in the RCT Coaster Challenge Chat thread, this thread is for entries and comments on entries only.
