^ Just frustrated, that we had good numbers, and even dumbing it down, we're getting less activity. I know part of it summer break.

I know, and I totally understand your frustration. The thing you have to always keep in mind is that the exchange is a "part" of TPR, meaning that we'll never be a "coaster gaming site", but it's an extension for all those who like to play.

I mean, look at the amount of tracks we have now, we are up to 2,111 files in the exchange, and sure it may not be growing at OMFG amazing speeds, but seeing those numbers increase every week means that people ARE using it, and they DO like it.

If the track of the week contest isn't gaining any momentum, I'm totally ok with us shifting gears and trying something different.

Just don't give up on it, because the numbers do show that people are supporting it.

I'm not. It's summer, the kids are out at the pool, etc. I know it'll be a bit slow now.

I am glad to see the Exchange growing.

Guys,

I'm going to re-launch the Track of the Week Contest tomorrow morning.

Unless you guys have something kick ass that you could post now. I got bottled up catching up at the office with the day off on Friday.....blah.

Done.

RCT2, Single-rail (Steeplechase and the like). I promoted racing coasters.

Just to keep moving forward and such: Let's start a 'Recreation' ToTW once a month: Give them a plot of ground, and tell them to re-create a well-known ride. If we really wanted to do something nice and easy, we could do "Vekoma Boomerang/Invertigo" or "Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop" as the first one... all the way up to "Magnum XL200"

Just a thought...

Of course.

I just came up with something quick and easy. We can do a recreation next week.

Not a problem at all; I'm always thinking of new things to try- a lot like spandex and burlap. Sometimes it fits... sometimes you look like a watermelon stretched inside a rubber band...

Thanks guys.

I'm up to my ears at work with performance issues, staff that keeps passing the buck, and our busiest month of the year. I'm about ready to go postal.

No, No... It's no longer postal... it's going Walmart or High-school on somebody...

Just remember this always, from the Prophet Carlin: "In every barrel of apples, you will have some really shiny ones, a whole lotta mediochre ones, and the the rotten apples at the bottom. People are exactly the same way. You have a few that shine, and a whole lot of shitty ones at the bottom, too."

You know, after looking at some of the replies in the thread, and the amount of activity, I've been thinking to myself "Hey, why not give every game a chance each week?" The only reason I see this is one as a plausible idea is it just opens the door for anyone, but with that, some entries may be skipped, but hey, if we continue this bonus for a little bit as well, it couldn't hurt to at least try the combination, and see what happens.

Just remember this:

Sexual Harrassment is nothing to be laughed at. After all...

Her Ass Ment nothing to me...It was her tits I was after...

I'm not at my computer with the program on it- but I will be later on. If somebody gets to it before I do, Mazel Tov- if not, I''ll be at that machine around 1PM PDT- and I can run it from then.

All right, I closed the contest for this week.

We have three entries. Typically low RCT3 numbers.

We really need something easy this week. I'm thinking a NoLimits Spinning Mouse contest due to the recent NL1.8 update.

Posted

We're losin' 'em.

Not only have we not had a single upload in three days - we also have no entries for the Track of the Week at all!

Brain wave - perhaps we should drop doing a certain design every week and just weight-rank all tracks that have been uploaded over a week?

This was actually the original idea for track of the week, actually.

Let me also see if Hanno can get you guys access to the mailing list to be able to email out to the Games Forum mailing list group.

My head must be really hollow - that slipped right past me.

Consensus - should we revert back to the original plan?

^ Before you guys ditch the current idea, I'd like to see some sort of "plan" as to how the change would be presented, monitored, and rewarded. I don't think it's a good idea to just up and "change stuff" without a thought out plan being discussed.

To help out with this week's contest, I did just sent out a mass email.

To be fair, though, with this week's track of the week, it does seem a bit limited. First off, it's limited only to those players who upgraded their game since July 4th. And secondly, I didn't see any promotion (front page, Twitter, FB, or email blast) about this contest. And when you think about it, if the update only come out 3 weeks ago, not that many people are going to have much experience making one of these coasters.

I'm all for new ideas to help promote the games forum, but please put some thought and discussion into something before launching it. That's all I want.
