TheStig
What do late nights at Del Taco result in? Spontaneous road trips to ride kick ass roller coasters! That's basically the jest of the trip that Jake, Renee, Andy and I took yesterday. We started by leaving my house around 9:15, and hit up Chik Fil A three hours later just outside of Ft. Lauderdale. I had to pee, so I missed taking a picture of "daddy daughter date night" posted on the sign out front. Incest is the best! Following CFA we made a pit stop at Uncle Bernies, which is where the photos and videos will commence. Sooo...COMMENCE: Walking in to the Flea Market area was confusing, not because there were vendors selling shemale porn, but because of what was inside... What. The. Eff. This, inside of a Flea Market?! An MC-12, and an Enzo. But the biggest WTF was this, AN FXX!!! I mean how did this get out of Maranello, let alone to a Flea Market in South Florida?! I guess it is the owners private car collection. Considering how many multi-million dollar cars this guy has, and the simple barricades protecting them, I'd say that he banks off of this place. Of course he makes all of his money off of Uncle Bernies! Tent: The Ride was popular among all ages. But only teenagers. We got both credits, but for some reason only my dragon wagon video came out. Needless to say Abandon Mine (no, not Abandoned Mine) was not really worth the memory on my phone that I used to take POV. So without further ado, here is the Dragon Wagon in all of its glory: Wasn't that....exciting? Sure. Anyway we bailed shortly after, and headed to the real reason for our visit. OH YES. Hurricane absolutely KICKED ASS. I mean it was smooth and had a ton of airtime, not to mention a really cool layout. I'm sad Coaster Works is no longer around, they built a winner with this one! The ride had some retracking done as well, and the blue train appeared to be in the midst of an overhaul. However I will say that the ride is not very well taken care of, but for an FEC who can blame them. Most of our day looked like this. It was nice, but dispatches were slow. Although the super high tech lap-top was nowhere to be found today! Here is an awful POV shot on my cell phone. Cell Phone Coasters: IN THE RAW! to hit shelves in 2012. After half a dozen rides we took a break and made a trek over to... JAXSON'S!!!! Jake and I split the Oreo Sundae. Renee told us we couldn't finish it... We told her to F-off and did, FOR AMERICA! Back at the Hurricane we took this picture together. And then this one... ...then this one! Then we left. The end.
coasternut
I haven't ridden the hurricane in a few years. It was great in the front, which really surprised me. Do they still have an all you can ride special on the hurricane? That Chick-fil-A is near my home in Pompano. I recognize the sign and I can see the Goodyear on Copans. WFChris
Daddy Daughter Date Night at Chick-Fil-A is kinda weird. I know they are in the middle of protecting their 'family values' (http://www.dailytexanonline.com/content/students-protest-chick-fil-sponsorship) or whatever, but I think this is a little too far! Great little spontaneous PTR!
cfc
At least they aren't having "Daddy-Daughter Date Night" at the "Boom Boom Strip Club" or something. I'm surprised you survived that insane Dragon Wagon. Edited February 6, 2011 by cfc
Electerik
Wait, you're bragging because two of you finished one sundae? LAME! I'm surprised and intrigued that Uncle Bernie's was open. We passed on it because the website implied that they were only open during the busier times of the year.
BeemerBoy
But the biggest WTF was this, AN FXX!!! I mean how did this get out of Maranello, let alone to a Flea Market in South Florida?! I'm pretty sure the FXX owners have the option of housing them at either their own location, or Maranello. But since it's not street legal, he can still only drive it at private track sessions, and those sponsored by Ferrari, where their techs will be on-site to capture the data from the car and driver. I'm still disappointed that I missed seeing the FXX at a Road Atlanta Ferrari event several years back. Here's the owner. I've heard that he's crashed an Enzo before, but have never been able to confirm it. Love the report! I still shake my head at the fact that this guy won the 24 Hours of Daytona with A.J. Foyt, and placed 2nd at Le Mans. It boggles the mind.
