Sheep-O-Matic
Okay, so, I have no idea if there is a thread like this... I mean, chances are that there is a thread like this, but I didn't see it, so I made this one. Anywho, this is the thread to talk about the eversofamous Disney/Pixar... (more-so about Pixar). Okay, so, as everyone may already know, the next Pixar movie to come this year is none other than Cars 2... Umm... Trailer: ... Yeah.... Um... shall we talk about this? BeemerBoy
... Yeah.... Um... shall we talk about this? Yeah....um...sure....in the movie thread. http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=
Sheep-O-Matic
I saw that thread, but I wanted a thread devoted only to Pixar... Anyway, I personally feel that Cars doesn't need a sequel. There are a few other Pixar hits that I feel deserve a sequel more than Cars... The Incredibles, Monsters, Inc, and Wall-E just to name a few. Another thing is that this will be the thrid PG-rated film from Pixar; but I feel that this one will be sort of a waste... I mean The Incredibles and Up got away with a few PG-elements but over all, they were both good family films. I mean, there's only so much PG humor you can do with Cars... like making one go in and out of a girls restroom in Japan... (harharhar)...
samisthabomb
In my opinion, the first Cars wasn't really that great. I agree, there are other Pixar films much worthier of a sequel.
amyzoo
I haven't even watched Cars all the way through, only random parts that I've seen.

Sir Clinksalot
Cars is my least favorite Pixar movie ... but it's still a good movie. An "ok" Pixar movie is still better than 95% of other movies out there. Cars 2 doesn't look that great to me, but until Pixar lays an egg, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt. Sheep-O-Matic
^ I agree. I mean, I understand that Mater is the "comic relief" of the Cras world, but this looks like it involves him a bit too much. And the whole Cars World concept is sort of hard to swallow, but as long as it makes the kids happy, that's all that counts, right? I mean, at the end of the first movie I was waiting for drivers to come out of the cars, but that didn't happen... made me leave the theater confused... So the idea of talking cars was a bit more confusing to you than talking toys, fish, bugs, monsters, trash compactor robots, or rats?
Sheep-O-Matic
No. The whole thing of the cars moving around without a driver was confusing.
the ghost
^ Isnt that the point? Also I agree, any day in which Larry the Cable guy succeeds is a bad day, and Mater sucks. Do people not realize hes not even a real damn comedian? Hes a stereotype, nothing more and nothing less. His act makes me wish we had never left england and gained independence, cause he makes us all look REALLY damn stupid, and even worse he succeeds. Awwwwwww. Guess what, Patton Oswalt is an awesome comic and was awesome as Remy cause hes a real comic and a REAL actor, mater blows. And I kinda wish cars could have gone a little little low brow, cause I think Mater would have been awesome being something like the General Lee,with a confederate flag. That would have been brilliant, but no, hes a stupid talking truck.

Sheep-O-Matic
^no No to what? The point of it was not to confuse people. It was to show us this world that exists without humans.
MG
Hey everyone, for those interested in Pixar, an interesting Behind the Scenes has been made. Quite interesting to see. Vimeo I would have embedded it, but it would seem TPR cannot embed Vimeo.
BeemerBoy
The problem with "Cars" isn't that cars talk or have a life of their own...it's that this world is humanless. Who are the spectators for the races? Other cars. Who hosts the talk shows? Other cars. It's so bizarre that zero connection to this world is there and consequently nothing can be satirized or discussed. Pixar is not perfect and their "Cars" franchise is a good example. See, I think this is exactly why "Cars" is so brilliant. Also, I think there was plenty of satirical material in the film (the range of personalities for the characters alone provided a ton of it). But personally, what I find most enjoyable about Pixar films is the intelligence by which a story is told through mostly non-human subjects. It's what makes the films truly endearing. In fact, my least favorite Pixar film is The Incredibles, which not coincidentally is centered around "human" characters.

FeelTheFORCE
Rotten Tomatoes has it at a 34% positive review rating, with an average review of 5.5/10. Ouch. Link (Not the Zelda kind) I never go by them, they are so sporadic. They have so many good movies rated poorly, and bad movies rated highly. One notable example is Boondock Saints. Sure not everyone likes that movie, and that's fine, but the "critic" score is at 19%, whereas the audience score is at 93%. Now how does that make sense? Considering movies are made for us anyway, and not for "citics," I always ignore their "reviews" and just go straight to what the general public rated it (Cars 2 is at 69%, btw).
