Team Thriller
I dunno. To me, Cars 2 seemed rushed and not up to Pixar quality. If I remember correctly, they weren't even planning on making Cars 2 before Brave, but somehow it just come out way sooner then expected. I see it as them being forced to make it since Cars has made Disney the most money out of advertising than any of the other Pixar movies, so Disney told them to make a sequel so they can get cash flow again. I am for sure not trying to sound like an expert, that is just the feeling I got. --James
Jew
^It was announced at the same time as Up, Brave, and Newt. I doubt it was bumped forward for money: Brave changed directors and Newt got shelved, leaving Pixar no choice but to shuffle their production schedule. SoCalCoasters
^ Yeah I'm not too keen on the idea either, I'd much rather it be a TS3-esque sequel. As for Cars II, could they have chosen a more overused theme than saving the world?
VinTheAttendant
So I've been checking out trailers for Disney/Pixar's new original movie "Brave" and I honestly don't know what to make of it. It seems to promote itself as an epic, yet it also contains a lot of slapstick and mildly crude humor. None of the characters are visually appealing and the plot itself is very unclear. I can't tell if it's about a girl wanting to become a great warrior (you know, like Quest for Camelot), or about a warrior liberating her homeland from a giant, evil monster (you know, like Dragonslayer). I'm glad that they are depicting a female hero, but I'm kind of getting tired of the "you can't do it because you're a girl" plot device. Why can't we just get an epic movie of a warrior doing warrior stuff and she happens to be a woman? There are plenty of other ways of showing strength and ability than overcoming sexism. It's a little early to determine whether I'm interested in this movie or not, but for such a big corporation as Disney, that was a very weak trailer. Pixar has been going downhill recently, and this is coming from a Pixar fan! Here is the trailer.
