Briareos
I've always been too chicken to go on rollercoasters. About a year ago I went on Test Track and that last turn (the one where you go out over the entrance to the building) was fun but about my limit. I'm going back in a couple of weeks and I was wondering how the mummy ride in Orlando compares and space mountain and big thunder railroad as well. Anyone can compare them please post your opinion. VinTheAttendant
The Mummy is a hybrid of a dark ride and a roller coaster. By coaster standards, it's not very intense, but the themeing and the fact that it's in the dark are some things to consider. However, if you had the courage to ride Test Track, it would probably take just a touch more courage to go on Mummy. Once you've ridden Mummy, Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be very easy. Both are family coasters. I was just in Orlando last week and I had a blast. Hope you have an awesome trip too.
LoopLover
Hmmm.....I think this is quite a tricky one... Â My mum is a total wimp (no offence mumsy) and when we visited she was to scared to ride. So, I went on as a test try. I loved it! Parts of it are creepy and made me a bit jumpy. However, the ride layout is quite tame. The scariest part of the mummy is the fear of it. Fire, AA's and more fire from nowhere! Â So, Big Thunder Mountain gets about a 2 out of ten for it's scariness. Space Mountain gets about a 3-4 and Mummy gets 4-5 Â Ride it! it's fun! Â Only my opinion. SharkTums
My mom is also a big wuss. She rides Space Mountain, Big Thunder, Test Track no problem. She rode but did not like Everest because it went backwards. She was fine on Mummy. She won't go near any B&M. Â Hope this helps!
blade1
BTMR is way less scary than test track. I remember being disappointed with it back in 1985 when I was in 5th grade. Space mountain was very scary for me back then, but now that I've been on some other other dark rides and got a lot older (LOL) I'm sure it would just be a Sunday cruise. Mummy is scarier than than all of these, but just a bit more than test track. I would suggest starting with BTMR, then Space Mt. If you can handle both of those, then try mummy. It's been rated the #1 dark rollercoaster in the world by Amusement Today and it would be a shame if you didn't experience it. Don't sell yourself short. A year older can make a huge difference. Rockin rollercoaster at Hollywood Studios would probably work as a steppingstone for you too, if you are tall enough to ride it.
LoopLover
Oh, and make sure you ride the Florida version. The USH version is great but there are no scary mummies and fiery roofs! and it tends to have the single rider line closed.
jmicha
My younger brother absolutely hates roller coasters but absolutely loves Revenge of the Mummy. The fact that it is all indoors made him more comfortable since there wasn't a view out to see you are above the ground which is where he loses his comfort. The ride is just pure fun rather than frightening or intense. Like others have said it has a LOT of fire and a few spots where I've noticed people jump if they aren't prepared or haven't ridden before, but nothing that should stop you from riding. Test Track is more intense than Mummy in my opinion, so you should be fine. Â As for Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, there's nothing to worry about on those. If you are able to ride a ride on the level of Test track, these two will be no problem. They are designed for families to ride together so are a lot less intense and thrilling as some of the larger rides in Orlando, but again, just plain fun. You should have a blast on them. This is a tough one because the only thing you have for comparison's sake is actually a fairly "tame" ride (Test Track). In reality, Test Track is designed to appear much faster than it really is. It's actually no faster than traveling down the interstate in a convertible. Sooo, when it comes to whether you'll enjoy an actual roller coaster, albeit a tame one such as Big Thunder or Space Mountain, I'd say it's just really up to you. We could try and explain it a million different ways to you, but you'll have to just suck it up, take a deep breath, and try it out. Just think of it this way, it's 3-4 minutes of your life to find out if you enjoy it or not. Go for it! Â And just for comparison's sake, I'd rank your three examples like this, in terms of intensity (#1 being the most): 1) Mummy 2) Space Mountain 3) Big Thunder
Sir Clinksalot
My MIL is pretty much the same as Elissa's Mom, although she LOVED Everest. Â She won't ride CA Screamin' or anything that goes upside down. She loved Test Track, the Big Thunders/Space Mountains, etc. Tower of Terror is her favorite ride ever (the FL one of course). Â As far as Mummy at USO, coaster wise it's probably just as intense as Everest (although I find the backwards part on Everest to be pretty intense, for a disney coaster). The effects are great, more on par with Indy than any other coaster.
saxman47
I guess it just goes to show how much the visual aspect of a ride impacts some people.....I think we all would agree that Tower of Terror is wayyy more intense than California Screamin'. Heck I love rides as much as the next guy and even I get a little anxious when ascending ToT before that first drop......

LoopLover
^ Yeah, TOT is intense, but I think I find launches like California Screamin more intense...just the way I am..
Briareos
Well Thanks for the info guys here's what happened. I chickened out on the mummy I was kinda tired anyways since i rode harry potter 4 times. I did go on space mountain and big thunder when i went to disneyworld and they were fun. Biggest thing I had about space mountain was I kept ducking down since I couldn't see anything I kept thinking I was going to hit something lol. the ghost
^ Lol, thats what all my non coaster loving friends say. This is the advice I give them... "Hold your hands up as high as you can, cause if you lose an arm you get tons of cash." This is obviously sarcastic, but the point is you will never ever hit yourself on another part of a coaster unless your pretty much GIGANTIC. They have been tested and retested, especially in the Disney and Universal parks. The fun in coasters is the fear they provide since it unusual to experience certain motions and elements at high speeds. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
