WFChris Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Hey, was just browsing Facebook and came up on a debate. I have seen this in amusement books so I am fairly certain it is an amusement device, but I was wondering if anyone here had more information. I have attached the picture they are referencing and here is a link to the facebook thread: http://www.facebook.com/HiddenLA People seem to think it is for vehicular testing, but like I said, I have read about it in books and am pretty certain that it was a 'ride' of some sort. Does anybody here KNOW? The only information the OP has was that it was taken in March of 1929 in Los Angeles. Chris. Roller coaster road?
WFChris Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 Well, they have figured out that it IS indeed a coaster, but more information would be fantastic. Why not, its the offseason Here is an OMG POV. There is even a REVERSE POV!!!!! WOW!!!!! http://www.efootage.com/stock-footage/54662/Auto_Roller_Coaster_-_1929/
mightbeawannabe Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Predecessor to powered coasters or DIY rides? Both? Anyways, I think it's interesting.
ebl Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 ^ If you zoom waaay in on the license plate, it says "JJ." Eric
the ghost Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 OMG! I wanna ride this thing credit or not! That looks awesome fun. It must be prety freaky to have a car that close behind you though on that course.
Across_the_Universe Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 That thing looks AWESOME!! I really would like to know what happened to this, or if it could ever be constructed today.
samisthabomb Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 That thing makes me nervous just watching it. It's not the coaster itself, it's having another "car" that close behind you. Yikes. Oh well, it was a credit... I think.
BeemerBoy Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I really would like to know what happened to this, or if it could ever be constructed today. Seriously?
