Hi TPR well I have finally made it out to the beautiful state of California and I'm going to be able to visit magic mountain today. What are some insider tips to the park? Fun stuff? I will have the best flash pass so most waits shouldn't be an issue. Basically I just want to know some tips om how I can maximize my day.

thanks so much and I will be sure to take some pics and update you guys on how it went.

^First, I hope you're already there!

You said you're getting FlashPass and that's a great start, you'll want to make sure you get on the rides that DON'T have Flashpass first. There are really no secrets or anything hidden or cool at the park. A whole bunch of roller coasters for you to ride. Have fun, let us know how it goes.

I'm actually leaving the hotel now, does anyone know if the platinum flash vs the gold is worth it? there's like a 30$ difference so it's not that big of a deal but just wanted to know if Antibes had experiences

with it. thanks

A little trip report ... commense!

I arrived at the park around 11 thankfully it didn't seem to crowded. Bought a gold flash pass as I thought it would get the job done well. In the end it did.

Unforchantly the group I was traveling with was not as..erm.. coasterically motivated, so I went on most by myself. I made my way to Viper to find out it was down ( if only I knew of how crappy of a ride it was I wouldn't have been so down about the news. So I reserved a time on Revolution with my flash and off to there I was.

I liked the history behind it , seeing it was honored by ACE was kind of neat. Was a great little coaster, nothing like soaring through the trees on a nice cold day (when your from south Florida)

Upon getting off I thought it would make sense to hit Tatsu as it was starting at me ever since I walked into the park. Absolutely loved this one, was a short wait time but was well worth it. Loved the different perspective of a ride on this specific flyer, mind you I've been on many flyers in the past, Tatsu taking the number one spot.

Took a relaxing break on the observatory tower, which was the most painful ride for me out of the whole day as I still to this day have a fear of hights, and yes I have been on many many 200+ 300+ ft ers, don't ask lol it's just the way I am.

Made my way to Terminator which I LOVED. The pre ride was great, and to me the ride felt the fastest out of any in the park. Had a great ride.

Then to scream, was a meh ride, no line was fun though.

Colossus was fun, front row, fun little woodie.

Batman another meh, my mom thought it was fun, which made me happy at least.

Goliath blew my mind, sat front row, abaolutly loved it great airtime, beautiful view, smooth as ever.

Went for a secondtime, back row, great ride.

Back to viper, worst ride since ninja at SFOA , youll know what I mean if you've been on.

Went to X2 next, best ride of the day, unexplainable how much fun I had on this ride. Got front on this which made a huge difference IMO.

Great day, great park.

Typed this all on my iphone so... yeah lol.

Cheers.

^It sounds like you had a good day at the Alveys Mountain. (Thank God it was open for you today!)

You didn't love Batman? I always thought it was a fun/intense (though a little short) ride. At least your Mom enjoyed it!

It seems like you hit the majority of rides the park has to offer. The new year to come will offer some great new attractions for a possible repeat visit for you.

Sitting in the front of the last two cars really works on Viper. More airtime and very minimal shaking (only real roughness is entering that weird hear-shaped loop thingy majigger, and it's not bad at all)

Glad you loved X2, its my favorite.

How was the line ditching? It sounds like crowds were light so maybe it wasn't so bad. This has been an issue with MM for as long as I can remember. I always tell myself: Is a few decent coasters worth the hassle of getting line-ditched all day? I usually take a pass. Unfortunately, their new ride additions/modifications won't be enough to make me take the plunge. With the types of crowds you get at the Mountain and the level of security, you just have to assume for the worst and hope for the best. I have had my good days there as well. Sounds like you had a good one:)

Is it Really such a bad idea visiting Magic Mountain Without Flash Passes?

We planned a trip to California in September-October 2011. And decided to not take a Flash pass, but to go to the park for 2 day's in a row.

24th & 25th of September(Weekend). Because, Flash passes are an awful lot of money!

What can we really aspect for a day like this? Anny hints for our visit.

Do we HAVE to take a Flash pass?

I read some reports, and didn't feel very good about our visit there next year! It's our first trip to the US,

and without a doubt we want it to be phenomenal!

Extra's: We visit Great Adventure as well (Airstop in NYC), So we take an annual pass for Six Flags!

(During our trip we visit: NYC, SF:Great Adventure, Los Angeles, Universal Studio's, Magic Mountain, Disneyland, San Francisco and Vegas)

I do hope for some good advise, would be great!

On a Saturday, your going to have to stand in one or two hour lines for the best rides. Unless you want to do that, I'd reccomend that you just get a regular flash pass. On a Sunday, it will be much better and you shouldn't need a flash pass. Really, I'd try to avoid a flash pass unless it really looks that crowded. As you know, flash passes are not cheap, and should be a last resort.
