the ghost Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) Ive decided to make a design that I may use for ne. Honestly I dont really care if it wins or not, but I want people to look at it, and I am very impressed with it for now. The coaster is a CCI terrain coaster, inspired by Boulder Dash. It blasts through the woods as well as several small tunnels. It is called Lynx and is named after an agile cat mostly found in the woodlands of Alaska and Canada. They are known for jumping and maneuvering through the woods, so the name seemed appropriate! The overall concept of the park is to have charm as opposed to a super crazy park, like many of the parks at NE. This park is designed to feel similar to a Dollywood or a Silver Dollar City. Here are some screens. Also I would like to give a special thanks to Dmaxsba2408. His contributions to the ride really added some realism, and thay were small simple things, but they made it look 100 times better. Thanks Dmax, you truly are an awesome designer! What do you guys think? SCR156.BMP 1st drop. The supports here are on a wooden bridge as the coaster goes over water here! SCR143.BMP Turnaround. Made to create as much air as possible. SCR144.BMP Some of the ride in its dense terrain! SCR172.BMP The coasters vast layout! SCR169.BMP The first part of the que. This part will be expanded, but is the line covering! SCR170.BMP Station! SCR171.BMP The photo hut...you buy your on ride photo here. There is a reason this building is so big! SCR173.BMP I came up with something I thought was rather clever. Similar to real parks guests look at monitors to see their on ride photo and can decide to buy it. The photo booth(where guests can buy their photos) is the info kiosk. SCR175.BMP An enclosed scrambler. I am still working on detailing and landscaping around the building, but the essential structure is done. SCR177.BMP Soon there will be more landscaping and shops, but the area is looking more and more complete. SCR179.BMP Another r building within the park! SCR180.BMP This area will have something new soon. Edited February 5, 2011 by the ghost
braztaz Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I think it's great, but I'm not sure how NE will take it... good luck though as I'm sure you can pull through!
Thelegendarymatthew Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 ^Yeah what he said. Don't try so hard to get NE, its not going to happen with this, or that other park of yours. Also, as this bench is so small, please finish this. You have so many projects that you left to die, sometimes even as small as this.
Mastersax68 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 It looks pretty nice, but please improve your foliage. Just trees don't cut it for me. Your buildings are pretty nice, too, but they need a bit more color. More than just yellow windows and black glass.
the ghost Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 I can totally do that. Also, what kind of colors for the buildings?
Dotrobot Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 ^^ The standard recently have gone down tremendously. Anyway it looks really good. It's good but not NE material right now. All that matters right now is how you finish the rest of the surroundings. The buildings alone like that look repetetive, try to incorporate some new colors.
the ghost Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 I will already post a new, smaller update tonight. If I add some colors like whites and different browns would that look okay? The theming is supposed to make you think of the woods, so I dont want colors like blues and reds. Maybe some plant textures such as hedges will compliment the colors. Also tonight you will see I am filling in quite a bit of the land around it with shrubs. There is going to be very little of this coaster that can be seen by guests, so expect a major foliage upgrade. What other rides should I add? I am pretty much using whats given, and a log flume is planned for parts of the mountains. How about a log flume, roller skater type coaster, and an antique cars ride with foliage and theming, and new building like shops and resturants. Does that sound good? Im just trying to think of how to fill up my space.
the ghost Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 Mini update time! SCR189.BMP No major change, but its a little nicer, and it still retains its charming feel! SCR192.BMP The star of the update! I like this one quite a bit! SCR184.BMP New landscaping...been busy wit6h hedges and branches and stuff!
triggernel Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Don't try so hard to get NE, its not going to happen with this, or that other park of yours. WTH? Ever think he might have some tricks up his sleave? Looks awesome Ghost. I agree though that some more color might be nice. Even Dollywood and SDC aren't completely brown and black.
Calicoasters Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Nice ride! I really like the over water parts of this wooden coaster. I don't even know what NE is, but your like looks awesome to me!
Thelegendarymatthew Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 ^^Just being realistic, I mean I've told him privately too. Its not like this is the first time hes heard this, lol. I will say though that I do agree that this is an improvment to the other stuff, and it did get some positive feedback from high up RCT2 parkmakers on NE, so you never know Advice on your thing. For the diagonals, don't stack up those blocks..............it looks ugly.
the ghost Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 Very small update! Yay! What do you guys think? SCR202.BMP Lift hill foliage complete! YAY! SCR203.BMP Station coloring and theming!
Thelegendarymatthew Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Why dont you try to make the pathways more involved with the terrian. As an example, in all most every NE design they have the entrance path for the rides always something a bit "more". You might want to consider trying to restart that, and make it something thats not a building into a station.
the ghost Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 Like a cave instead of that first building?
Thelegendarymatthew Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 ^NE is blocked on this connection, I'll show you what I mean when I get home for a clearer def of what I meant. Just look at some NE entrance pathways,
the ghost Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 Wow, almost exactly 3 months later til an update, lol. Here's what happened. We recently got a new computer, and I lost everything from the hard drive, which made me assume I lost Lynx. However, I forgot I had pmed it to Dmax to work on a little at the very beginning. To make a long story short, yesterday I was looking for an old NL file and I stumbled upon lynx. Keep in mind that I lost all the original station theming, so I have started that over, and it is much much better than it was before, in fact, one of my best NCSO building EVER. Also, I should mention, although it should be clear, the station is not done yet, but the roofing/details are done, just need to finish the structure. Once again, sorry for the crazy delay. All foliage/landscaping is being reworked as are tunnels and things. Thanks for the old comments everyone, the might Lynx will run through the trees once more! Once again, keep in mind foliage is NO WHERE NEAR DONE! Sorry for the delay, and thanks to everyone who has previously commented! SCR5.BMP New station! SCR8.BMP Most of the awesome terrain based layout, for those who don't remember it. SCR6.BMP I'm not gonna lie. This is still probably my favorite element I've made on any coaster. This was reworked tons of times to get the pacing just right! SCR9.BMP Smile! Double down through the trees and an on ride photo!
Reviar Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I need to Finish my Lynx coaster now as well. But this is really good for NCS as it sure as hell is a lot better than some of my work was.
SoCalCoasters Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Funny how we were just talking about this yesterday! Great to hear that Lynx lives on!
the ghost Posted February 6, 2011 Author Posted February 6, 2011 ^ That was part of the reason I looked. The NL track was the main reason, then I though to myself, I might as well check if its there, and there it was.
MeMeMe Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 The ride's looking as good as ever and that new station is just amazing!
