America's Wonderland [RCT3]

Recommended Posts

Welcome to America's Wonderland!

This actually is a park that I had been playing without custom scenery but have decided to do a makeover using some of the custom scenery I've been downloading. I basically started over by removing all the rides and stalls that were in the game as well as redo some of the layout in areas. I like how it's turning out so far but there is still a lot of work I have to complete.

I know that there are custom supports for the coasters and I have downloaded them but I'm still trying to figure out how they work. It hasn't been easy. Onto the pics.

Old-AW-1.jpg.f7b4d188b36db11edc013ef64c2aa6ef.jpg

First we'll start with some of the old park to compare with. Here's an overhead view.

Falcon.jpg.19f50b52f506267b03e1c08ffab0d067.jpg

Falcon - drops directly over the midway. I had just reopened the park after trying to clean it up a little.

Another shot of Falcon.

Looking towards the new main gate, Wonderland Mountain, and what is now Old Country Plaza. There are three levels to the main gate - first floor park entrance, second floor a restaurant, third floor park management.

Hello Wonderland Mountain - the park centerpiece. It's also used as the logo.

Adventure-Cove.jpg.fc6c469f511605fb9a035e1e690ef927.jpg

This used to be the area Falcon and the Merrie Oldies cars used to be. To the left is Atlantis, formerly Oceanic Wonderland.

New-Wicked-Woods.jpg.a52316abf82dc3f01c27519ae5840f28.jpg

This area is Wicked Woods, a dark, spooky forest theme. This is where The Boss used to be.

Banshee, the star attraction in Wicked Woods.

Coyote-Creek.jpg.3be538ffb53793fe8b0d6a90a2c2f0a3.jpg

On the other side of the park from Wicked Woods is Coyote Creek. This used to be home to Rapid Fire, a Premier LIM Launch coaster. Der Fallinfast would have been right off to the left of the photo.

Very nice start!

It looks like your video card is struggling to render some stuff. I turn off things like shadows, the trees off the map, and refelections in water, it really helps in frame rates. I also mess with the LOD settings, so when I'm taking pictures, as much of the scenery is shown even backed way out.

^Thanks for the tip. I usually just play my parks as is but I have made the adjustments that you spoke of and any future screenshots will be much better. This is the first time I've ever taken screenshots and posted on a forum.

Sorry, CF, no Togo stand up in this park. I'm sure the guests will be glad to hear that.

Hopefully these shots turned out okay.

This installment has seen the the first three buildings that introduces a new area, Americana Corners. It is the area that finally connects Wicked Woods with Coyote Creek. This original area used to be a long midway similar to KI's Coney Mall but now it will be condensed.

I've also included a couple of shots of the Atlantis water park as well as a few aerials from Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall, the Intamin Giant Drop.

Here is the beginning of what will be Americana Corners.

Here is its location in the park. It will feature a few Main Street style buildings that will culminate into a small ride midway (which is up at the top).

Here's an aerial of Atlantis water park. It was recently reconfigured.

Probably the one thing that I was most happy in how it turned out. The massive body slide complex.

Welcome to Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall. This is a new facade for the ride.

Banshee-from-Mr.-Hydes.jpg.eccfbe90187e4fd29cb1a1c2101443ea.jpg

Banshee looks great from Mr. Hydes. I've also added a few areas of the misty particles/fog in areas of Wicked Wood and along the low sections of Banshee. I think it really adds to the atmosphere of this area.

We finally opened! Well, not exactly. We had a trial day with Club TPR as well as invited families of park employees. Everything went well, some minor hiccups during the day, but that is to be expected. Most of the day I was part guest, riding rides and just enjoying the park and part management to get a feel of what the guests had to say. Overall it seemed everyone I talked to was fairly impressed but that we still needed a few more rides.

Thanks for viewing.

They call this a family ride? It spins just as fast as Exterminator at the end. ;-)

Atlantis didn't open right away but we did enjoy it later on. Here are the body slides - Neptune, Triton, Poseidon, and Hades.

Swirl City and Royal Flush were great fun. Didn't ride Funnelvision as we wanted to check out the rest of the park.

Banshee-from-Mr.-Hyde.jpg.d5b5db2d8fae507c56987fa1656d3c81.jpg

First stop was to Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall. Got this view of Banshee's cobra roll as I was heading to my seat.

*Gulp* We're going all the way up there?

What a great view! (I got permission from the ride op to take this photo).

Banshee-from-Station.jpg.1abf791899f4bd8908e355479c22ecf1.jpg

Of course the main reason we are here is because of Banshee.

563005373_s-Mi.jpg.ba9a67f4fabdbfe666b5da5b1c5f9aa1.jpg

Due to the nature of the ride I didn't want to risk damaging my camera but I was able to snag this photo of going through the mist in the helix.

Banshee-Mist-Ending.jpg.a2faeaee8403cbffc7e9798efc5292af.jpg

Thanks to my 10X zoom I was able to get this of riders coming out of the mist filled trench at the end of the ride.

Banshee-Station.jpg.e90abdd587f90bb44c888c1ee64830a8.jpg

One last look at Banshee and its station before moving on to Americana Corners.

Americana-Corners-Midway.jpg.db74d22d5d695a3f4fe0263cc452a621.jpg

Americana Corners is light on the thrills. There are only three rides here - a Ferris Wheel, Bumper Cars, and Antique Cars.

Reverse-Americana-Corners.jpg.8ebb54de7fc70842d3cf871422eaa875.jpg

It's a small area but is rather nice as a "fill in" area between the thrills of Wicked Woods and Coyote Creek.

Timber-Rattler-and-Texas-To.jpg.cd2609d47c91531158f6631fae433084.jpg

I at least rode the Ferris Wheel, where I checked out what is over at Coyote Creek.

Timber-Rattler-from-Queue.jpg.050b56bf701e6f00c6430d5551501395.jpg

First stop was Timber Rattler. I had to pass on the Texas Tornado as I don't handle spinning rides well. Timber must be a popular ride considering the wait I had for it.

The first drop. (I got permission from the ride op to take photos).

More-Coyote-Creek-Scenery.jpg.b93832b3d5a0f9e9b26fce709c350e21.jpg

I was getting hot so I wanted to ride Renegade Falls. They added some modest western scenery along the way.

Renegade-Falls-Scenery.jpg.5f41b2d4b284f904ac0ab2941091eda7.jpg

Renegade Falls has a small scenic area that resembles a western town.

84779394_-Lift.jpg.3dbeb883d7b6e1a3c1e8baaf84780819.jpg

The ride does have a decent drop that doesn't soak you. Considering the line for the ride the park needs a second water ride.

Coyote-Creek-Midway.jpg.45be7318d49c0ccdb5d2d48914c32510.jpg

Coyote Creek was light during the day but the crowds picked up later on.

The Wonderland Carousel, also known as Old Country Carousel, is housed in a large Bavarian inspired building.

Before I left the park I picked up a few postcards. Here's an aerial from the south.

I liked this one of Timber Rattler.

This postcard highlights both Banshee and Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall.

Finally, this aerial of Old Country.

  • 3 weeks later...

It's been 15 years since we, that is the company, purchased America's Wonderland and did a total transformation of the park for its 25th anniversary. We've done some expansion since then, adding a new Asian themed section, two coasters, a river rapids ride, a train ride, and greatly expanding the Americana Corners section.

The Antique Cars were removed, slightly relocated and redesigned to allow access to the new areas. Also Wicked Woods was connected with the Asia area with a path under Banshee.

2145588713_s-Wonderland-Overvi.jpg.f8538e331744dea3fbc5840b19ee926a.jpg

Here's an aerial overview showing how the newly expanded areas in the back relate to the rest of the park.

Khan, our king of coasters, is an Intamin mega that might be Elissa approved.

The Americana Corners expansion includes a glass train station and the Turn of the Century Arrow coaster.

Raging-Thunder-Rapids.jpg.f3d749e4f18751458faf01672fcb5ca1.jpg

Raging Thunder Rapids sort of connects Americana Corners with Coyote Creek with its western inspired rugged landscape.

Turn of the Century is a double loop corkscrew that has some inspiration from KI's Vortex.

^Thanks for the suggestion. I sort of wanted to go with Raging Bull's colors as I like the orange/wine color scheme and I really wanted to avoid using what is termed the Cedar Fair colors (red/yellow) which would have easily fit the ride. I also didn't want to use black since Banshee has the black supports so I changed it to dark red .

We've also developed a marketing jingle.

"There's no land like America's Wonderland

Where fun and laughter both go hand in hand

From the biggest coasters to the smallest rides

The thrills are waiting for you inside

So grab the family and make your plans

To spend the day at America's Wonderland"
