pianojohn Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 $2.50 a ride is a bargain to ride history. Plus, I would assume most enthusiasts ride it once for the credit instead of spending all day on it. I rode it back in 1984 during an ACE Coaster Centennial event. I may have ridden it 2 or 3 times at the most, and that was with ERT in the morning. Cute ride, amazing it lasted this long, and one that every coaster enthusiast must ride (in addition to the Coney Island Cyclone).
redfoot12 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 John--You just made me think of a new topic (or one that's already been done and I should do a search on) Top 10 classic coasters that are a must-ride...
palmerleeberry Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Hm . . . $2.50 per ticket for a ride on the only wooden coaster of its type. I can see lots of possibilities. For one, the extra money will help maintain the coaster that is a sweet ride to go on. Two, now you don't need to purchase a POP ticket (okay, there are some people who only want one or two rides on Leap the Dips and wants to or cannot ride no other ride inside Lakemont Park. But I really can't see that, so please disregard number two because I'm getting too lazy to delete this). Three, I bet the lines for Leap the Dips will go down; there aren't that many "rich" riders and amusement park flyers willing to shell $2.50 a ticket, although I might pay for four tickets if I go there. Four, think about the lawn parties that come to your town and how much they would charge for a ride. $2.50 for a ride on Leap the Dips doesn't sound too bad, doesn't it? Five, I'm running out of reasons, so I think I better end this while I'm ahead. "And six, I'm a pillow to rest your head upon, and I'm sooo lonely."
Calicoasters Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Leap the Dips was KT's first Woodie Credit! She loved it and rode it a ton that day, although I would NOT let her ride in the back seat!!! That's rad! I'm guessing Leap The Dips doesn't have a height requirement? I couldn't find one on the park's website. John--You just made me think of a new topic (or one that's already been done and I should do a search on)Top 10 classic coasters that are a must-ride... I nominate the Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz!
cal1br3tto Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I nominate the Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz! Seconded! This new policy doesn't bother me at all. And imagining myself in this situation, I could easily see myself setting aside $10 give-or-take and not minding at all. However, from a consumer standpoint, I strongly prefer the following: all rides available with a POP purchase, every day, with unlimited rides allowed. This does not affect my opinion of the Leap-the-Dips policy, since I totally understand the reasoning. In fact, I understand the reasoning behind most exceptions to what I just claimed to prefer. --Not offering POP every day can help keep crowds in check --Limiting the number of rides reduces maintenance costs --etc. etc. etc. However, I still don't like encountering these situations--I just want to be clear I'm not saying they're wrong or stupid.
