Hi there! I've been working through a Tourism course for an extra high school credit, and I came across a question that I think TPR members may be able to help me with.

I'm wondering what kind of advertising would attract you to a new theme park. TV ads? Shiny brochures? Or just word of mouth? What about things like coupons or competitions?

Thank you in advance for your help.

For me, a good website would get me interested in the park. You'd have to know what is there before you made plans to go see it.

For me, I will evaluate whether I would want to visit a park based on what's actually there. So the ad would need to be clear about the attrractions, and they would need to back it up with a website that gives me more details about the attractions, prices, accomodation, getting there, any fast pass options etc. The bottom line is no amount of flashy or creative advertising will convince me to go somewhere unless the attractions are something I am interested in.

For me, the best way to get me interested in a park is to see Photo TRs and Videos from a park, because then I can see if the park looks interesting and see if there's anything I need to know about the park that they wouldn't put in a commercial.

I get attracted when I hear a new ride opening. (That always causes a commotion.)

A website also gets me interested. I like viewing shops, videos, food, ride info.

For me, it would be TV ads because I can see the park and what they have to offer. Coupons will always get my attention as well.

If it was a brand new yet to be opened park, News casts would honestly be the best bet as they are kinda like video TRs that give more insight into a park then any TV commercial could.

A buy one get one free ticket promotion would bring people in droves. You'd easily make your lost money (and much more) back on the extra concessions and games you'd sell as a result.
