Nemmy Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Now that I'm done with New York and Cedar Point is around a week away, what advice can someone give me on getting on the most coasters at CP?
MagnumForce Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 I suggest heading to Millennium Force first as it has the worst capacity in the park. Dragster really pumps the people through so that should not be a problem, the lines for all the other rides move very fast so they should not be a problem either. Also remeber that as long as you are in line before the park closes you will be able to ride. If at all possible visit on a Sunday to see the least crowds.
CoasterFanatic Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 http://www.whentoride.com // Shameless Plug Millie has been running pretty slow lately. Save Raptor and Mantis for later in the day. They seem to really pull alot of people early. I will be there Saturday.
PhishyBrewer Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 First off, don't park in the front of the park like everyone else. Park in the Soak City Parking lot. Less cars in the early morning and usually a really good, close spot to the entry gate. From there, start in the back of the park and work your way to the front. Or what I like to do, see how rides I can get on Gemini before there is a line Enjoy!
Twister II Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 If TTD is open, go to it first. If not, go to Mantis first, cause you DONT want to get stuck in that line. Hmm Ride Wicked Twister in back, dont miss Disaster Transport and yeah I got to run!
MagnumForce Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Dragster has very minimal downtime anymore, I want to emphasize very. Millennium Force has a new PLC system and runs at under 400 PPH, it by far has the lowest capacity in the park. Trust me when I say go to it first.

ScOtT k Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Only 400 pph!?!? That's horrible for an attraction like that! I only waited 45 minutes for MF so I guess I was lucky.
MagnumForce Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Yes, it's absolutly pitiful, between the horrifically short belts that are shorter then those on the test seat and the new PLC it's absolutly horrible. This info comes straight from Silver Tags who are not very happy with the whole thing. MF came VERY close to pulling a California Screamin a couple times earlier this year and this is the effect it has had after reprogramming.
ScOtT k Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Each train seats 36 riders. If the hourly capacity is only 400, that means that they run about 11 trains! That's horrible.
MagnumForce Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 The normal interval used to be about 1:30. Now the interval is about 4 minutes which I guess is more like 500 PPH, but it's still abysmal. They still run 3 trains and I have no idea why. Yay Intamin!
CoasterFanatic Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Millie is running more than 400pph. That is a rediculous exageration. It still isn't running anywhere near what it should though. Most of the delays are caused by people who don't fit the belts. Pretty sad as most of them fit the test seat. They really need to do something about this ride. Millie has the most simplistic blocking system ever. If the brakes are clear at the end. It send the train over the first hill. Between the lift and the final brake consititutes one block.
Nemmy Posted August 9, 2005 Author Posted August 9, 2005 I'm not parking; I'm staying at the Breakers. First day, I'm going to try getting to TTD, maXair, Raptor, Magnum, and Mantis at the MINIMUM. Which ones should I "fastpass"?
ScOtT k Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 On the first day you can get much more then that done. On my first day at CP, I did MF twice. Dragster once. Mantis once. Gemini twice. Iron dragon twice. Disastor transport once. Cedar point mine ride once, and a lot of flats.
MagnumForce Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 S:ROS has an incredibly simplistic brake system as well, that didn't stop it from blowing through the brakes and crashing into the train ahead of it, on Millie it would be a slower speed collision, but a collision none the less. That is part of it, the worst part of it as you said is the seatbelts which are riduculous, these are not fat people they are turning away, they are your average big guy. Here is quite a lengthy topic over on PointBuzz that talks about the whole fiasco. http://pointbuzz.com/cpplace.aspx?mode=thread&TopicID=16611
dandaman Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Anyone have any advice for my one-day excursion to the Point tomorrow? (All I want to do for sure is get an MF Freeway pass.)
MagnumForce Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Crowds shouldn't be horrible tomorrow. You shouldn't have a problem with anything. Either get a MF handstamp or hit it at the end of the night.
Scaparri Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Dragster has very minimal downtime anymore, I want to emphasize very. Millennium Force has a new PLC system and runs at under 400 PPH, it by far has the lowest capacity in the park. Trust me when I say go to it first. That's not entirely true. I've been working on the ride all summer. Yes, we have many new rules mandated by either Intamin or the park that have slowed the capacity down a little, however, it is nowhere near 400 pph. It's actually about 900-1000 pph. If people would listen to us when we ask them to try the test and when we ask them to get rid of their lose articles, they wouldn't have this problem. Sorry MagnumForce, that rant is by no means directed toward you. It doesn't matter though, 'cause I don't work there anymore anyway! Nevertheless, MF does usually have the longest line so I would head there first or get a FreeWay stamp at 11 o' clock. If you decide to go with the FreeWay on MF and you won't be staying all day, I would consider hitting Raptor first because the line is almost always during the morning and afternoon. One little note: MaXair's line is never as long as it looks. It's often out the entrance, but the park didn't build hardly any queues so the wait is usually no more than half an hour.
CoasterFanatic Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 One little note: MaXair's line is never as long as it looks. It's often out the entrance, but the park didn't build hardly any queues so the wait is usually no more than half an hour. Very true. The queue that hangs way out of the permanent queues will scare off most people, but it is only like 20 minutes. Why didn't they build any queues for this ride?
Scaparri Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I can't say for sure, but I would say because of space. They don't really have anywhere to put queues in that area. Not too mention, if you cram a bunch of queues together right on the midway, line jumping problems will be insane. Those are my guesses.
