crispy Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 No, its not to late, you have untill august 12th, its open to anyone and RCT2 is fine
Hicko Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Sorry I know it's off topic but how do you get your images under 150000 bytes? I've resized them to 800 x 600 but there still 450000 bytes each!!
Hicko Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Cheers for that. I've now saved them in paint and the new file sizes are 95000 etc Anyway I shall be posting my entry.
kenshinmac Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Just to correct my earlier mistake with posting in the wrong place I am gonna bring everything over here... Ugh this is gonna take a while... Well I thought I would share all 3 of the coasters I have built that have been inspired by and 2 that actually fit the contest rules. Keep in mind I have soaked which screws with the single coaster rating... If you go with multiple coasters close to each other you get a great rating but meh whatever... BTW I don't believe in more than 1 brake mid course... I also favor twister style coasters over the more straight wooden coasters. Take my rides for a spin in the on ride camera. I got some places in each that are just insane. Hope you guys enjoy them. BTW most of these rides were just stream of consciousness... IE I just built where I could and didn't modify a thing. Well anyways feedback is appreciated. Yes I know this is a long post... One last shot of Raging torrent Different View of Raging Torrent Raging Torrent... This is my best rated one yet. There are portions I really like and ones I don't. One last one of Wildfire More WildFire WildFire my latest creation More Rampage Rampage is can't be a contest entry as I believe it doesn't fulfill the soaked requirements but I love how it looks. [WoodenRC]WildFire.trk Wild Fire my most recent attempt [WoodenRC]Rampage.trk Rampage the first coaster created based on the preliminary rules for the contest. Doesn't quite measure up to the rules I believe but it is a blast. [WoodenRC]Raging Torrent.trk Raging Torrent my more insane creation
crispy Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 WOW, those are some great coasters, have you chosen which one, or are you going to keep trying Good Job
kenshinmac Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Well I just surpassed my previous rating by quite a bit... I have just built my Diablo which is pretty damned crazy with insanely low clearances to the point where there are areas where there aren't supports shown for quite a distance. I'm not really sure whether this is the one I like most though... I'm just kinda torn... Any opinions? Once again only minor modifications after the initial build... I dunno it is just the way I prefer to build. Otherwise I don't end up with the sort of flow I like. Hmm just noticed there is actually a discrepency in the ratings between pics... Strange... [WoodenRC]Diablo.trk Trackage... Check it out and tell me what you think. Personally I think this one is truly nuts. Final Pic Overhead view Diablo... This is my latest and best rated...
Sir Clinksalot Posted August 6, 2005 Author Posted August 6, 2005 Diablo is fantastic! I've built a couple of decent coasters that are ok, but nothing as cool looking as this one! I think I need to get some more practice in! That is a very good effort! Well done!
Sir Clinksalot Posted August 7, 2005 Author Posted August 7, 2005 Hope you guys enjoy them. BTW most of these rides were just stream of consciousness... IE I just built where I could and didn't modify a thing. Well anyways feedback is appreciated. Yes I know this is a long post... Some GREAT coasters there kenshinmac, personally I LOVE Raging Torrent... there is just something about it that appeals to me! Diablo is great too! I can't wait to see which you choose for your contest entry! We are really seeing some cool coasters... keep them coming guys!!!
kenshinmac Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 pucechan I agree that Raging Torrent is one of my faves that I have ever built. I dunno I just love how the section right after the mid-course brakes looks. It actually makes me feel like I am actually dropping into something on a coaster. I dunno I just have never really had that sensation in an RCT game before. Then there is Rampage which I love because the speed is almost perfect throughout the whole thing. It is just as close to perfectly toned speed as I have ever come. Ride it and you will see as it eases into the station without the help of any brakes during the course. I love it. Wildfire I have decided is a bit too simplistic for my tastes now but it should make for a good pre-built ride for some of the parks in the game. Who knows it will likely get used again. Diablo is pretty impressive to me and my best rated one yet but something aobut the structure just doesn't feel right to me. It just kinda lacks the feel of Raging Torrent and instead looks like some sort of snarled wire. Admitedly it is a damn cool look but geez I dunno something about it just doesn't click for me. I think at this point I am most happy with Diablo because of the rating and the fact that it does look insane. I kinda wish that Raging Torrent had rated higher... I'm leaning towards putting Diablo into the contest though...
crispy Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 Well this is my first attempt, not great, but for having very little time, at least it makes the requirments, lol anyway, I'm hoping to make a more grand version of the Brown Streak, but if i can't your lookin at my entry Top view of The Brown Streak Front View of The Brown Streak side view of The Brown Streak
Sir Clinksalot Posted August 8, 2005 Author Posted August 8, 2005 Yay Crispy! I'm glad you got to design a coaster for this! Brown Streak is really good! Why is it called Brown Streak?
Sir Clinksalot Posted August 8, 2005 Author Posted August 8, 2005 Very cool coaster, especially the front view, the symmetry is nice. I haven't decided what I'm gonna do yet...
crispy Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 Try to keep the coaster a bit on the slow side, and bank every corner looks good, you are SUPER close, don't give up
flyby208 Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 How do you get the excitement rating up got intensity down by putting in more banked corners now need to get excitement up its like 6.8 at the moment so dont need much
crispy Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 ok couple of things, try to change the leanth of the trains, and try to increase the speed of the lift chain (don't remember if you can do the in rct2) if not, try to add a quick bunny hop or something
AllisonY2K Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 maybe on that U-turn after the loop put a downward helix?
Hattuchili Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 Okay, I have posted my entry. It was not easy, I needed a few hours to built my track! However, now I am finished. --Sören
BiCoastal Kid Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 flyby, you've got a flat pice after your loop. You could move the loop up one and make the bank turn drop bottom into the loop wider, and that would help intensity.
Hattuchili Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Hey Chris and Simon, in a few days we will start the voting for the first TPR-RCT winner. Do you have any idea how we will vote? I think it will not be easy, because I have seen a few good tracks! --Sören
